I wrote "The Sea" to express my love for the ocean and the mysteries it possesses (my name is “Sea-erra,” after all!). The song came to me while I was living out of my van in Port Townsend, WA. The beach quickly became one of my favorite places. I would walk there every day and look for items that had washed ashore. At the time, I was seeing a blue-eyed Pisces and there was someone else I was interested in who was a Cancer. Those are both water signs so that’s how they weaseled their way in there! I had an amazing time working with director Casey Pierce and producer Bella Mazzola on this video and hope you enjoy It!

I saw Sierra at the Empty Glass in Charleston, WV years back. She brought everyone to a stop. We knew. You don’t get that many times. And she is a fun, funny lovely woman! I’m so happy she is riding this way! She has worked very hard for it.✌️♥️

Holy shit this album is going to be insane! This song is so perfect! The first version is great (as is the video), but this is in a completely different league. It is so visual and almost cinematic, like a vintage country cowgirl Portishead meets Madeleine Peyroux. Your style is so hard to pin down because there's really nobody else who comes close to sounding like you. I can't wait for August 20th. PS Please tell me this will have a vinyl release as well. I can't imagine listening to your first album any other way.

Madeleine Peyroux came to mind to me too while listening to this. Which caught me completely by surprise because what I've heard of her music so far was in the old time/country style, which I like btw. This song is great and shows that she has a much wider range than I knew. I really like her voice and her singing style. Will definitely be looking into more of her music.

I keep coming back to this video and each time am more impressed. You should do a whole cd of Jazz/Showtunes/Gypsy music. While I genuinely love the country/bluegrass music you do, and thank you for bringing new life to it, I believe these Jazz/Showtunes/Gypsy songs really showcase your range, vocal chops, power and the breadth of your talent (which still appears to be boundless) Simply love you Sierra. Sierra is a special person imo. I hope she is able to retain her natural uniqueness and not get sucked into commercialisation - of course she must succeed but I personally love her live performances and a kind of rawness which may have come from her busking background.

Oh my gosh…this is amazing in all ways. Also, side note @ 2:26 is giving Roxy Music vibes, from that one album cover of theirs. Similar. But she is all original. So amazingly preciously talented. So felt! I love her. KZfaq did great again with their algorithm…well the algorithms are always working with our spirit too.
