Wow, thanks, very generous words. New episodes are being edited right now, but the stronger winds eludes me (very unusual for this region) so there will be a fair amount of repetition in th eupcoming episodes.

Hello Thomas, the grip and influence of the correct lying position are explained correctly and valuable. With weapons without a height-adjustable butt plate, prone shooting is also very limited. There is potential for precision here that should not be underestimated. Unfortunately, very few hunting weapons offer a reasonable option here. For sport shooting (and 600m distance is more like that) this is part of the basic equipment of a rifle stock for me. Maybe you can think of a sensible solution? Greetings Andreas. (I shoot a Merkel K5 extreme)

Ja K95 har vært en stor overraskelse for meg. Hadde aldri trodd at en lettvekts rifle med to-delt stokk festet til pipa skulle gå så bra. Det bryter med alt jeg leste og ble fortalt i ungdomsåra. 😅

Very, very happy with the result of this project. I am currently in the next phase (have already filmed another 3-4 episodes, just need time to edit) and reloading the more classic 6,5x57R that came with the rifle. It performs on par with my 6,5x55 but the factory ammunition I was able to get was significantly more expensive (5x) and precision was terrible, so 6,5x57R became a reloading project.

Renaissance wax is akin to microcrystalline wax, which is the toughest among wax finishes. Being better than nothing, it's still not optimal to prevent water from oxidising steel or entering the end grain of the wooden stock (the oil you applied onto the stock is as good as it gets). To avoid water entering at the wood/steel contact areas you need something flexible at various temperatures, red paste/liquid gasket is my first guess. Leave the wax on the steel as releasing agent and apply a very thin layer on the wooden surface. Join the two parts with light pressure and remove it after few hours. That should give you a water tight seal all around. If you don't like it, it will be easy to remove anyway. Hope it helps

I've grown very fond of it, of course the nice wood helps! Yes, very mild mannered. I think I would enjoy it even more in 243 or 6XC, but legal issues makes 6mm a daft choice for me. I also saw on the internet a frenchman (?) with a custom 5,6x50R barrel shooting Hornady .22cal 80-90 gr ELD M's - must be exceptionally pleasant to use for the smaller deer.

What's your definition/idea of a cold bore zero?
@MattLarmann
@MattLarmann 2 ай бұрын
@@THLR first shot from a cold fouled bore. Is the cold shot point of impact different than shots fired from a warm barrel ? How do you account for this? Thanks
@THLR
@THLR 2 ай бұрын
@@MattLarmann gotcha! Only the 6XC with factory ammo was precise enough for me to detect this. I only see POI shift (small) in the first shots from a thoroughly cleaned barrel (clean metal) and with the fouled, patch-oil-in/patch-oil-out I don't really see a shift. This is with the scope still attached to the barrel. With scope on/of I've had shifts, but I'm not sure if it was the system or that specific mount (it kept losing torque)
@MattLarmann
@MattLarmann 2 ай бұрын
Are you saying that cold bore ( first shot ) is a myth and if it occurs it is due to something other than a cold barrel? This is what I am exploring.

Why did you not add a spring under the screw to have a little room for wood to do its thing. Love your Stock how is the Blaser Descirption THLR?
@THLR

It was on the table during the planning phase, but too many unknown factors (strenght of spring, corrosion, total weight etc) so we decided against it and go with a simple self-centering solution.

I was always taught to pre load harris bipod (light pressure) not to pull rifle into shoulder, can you elaborate on that? I must try your way with my tikka t3 308 20" on 300m with that what you hacve shown
@THLR
@THLR 2 ай бұрын
I was taught the same way; light forward pressure on bipod, until metal meets metal. These days I hold/hook the rifle and bring it back to the shoulder (compress clothing for firm contact, not agressive pressure) and it seems to be more consistent.

Hello Thomas..(!) Thank you very much for your hard and important work. Thanks to it, I realized how many factors influence the final effect, i.e. an accurate shot. While in target shooting it is an element of recreation, in hunting it is the most important part of the hunting process. Recently I started watching your oldest videos again. It's good to go back to the roots and refresh your knowledge. Thank you once again and I'm waiting for more valuable materials!
