Kung Fu - Sword Spinning Tutorial - Basic Upward Flower

One of the fundamental ways to spin a sword is this upward slicing figure 8. They key to refinement in performing this sword spinning (flowering) technique relies on the grip and wrist flexibility. The movement is easy to learn but making it look good takes lots of practice. I suggest doing this as much as you can until you can do it fast and fluidly, then you can look towards training other sword spinning techniques.

Hi I've been looking for Flail staff/Two section staff (NOT NUNCHAKU) tutorials but haven't seen many. If you know how to use it maybe you do a few tutorials on that too?

Sure thing! Two section staff training and techniques are as unique as the weapon itself. I will look into coming up a full series on it, but in the meantime may film some some kung fu combos.

I'm sorry it was way to fast... I'm a beginner and don't have a Shifu who gonna help me... So your Video was just confusing because you didn't do any slow instruction, you directly started it... Sorry man that doesn't help at all.

No worries, maybe it's best to look at the video in sections rather than the entirety as I do cover a lot of information in 3 minutes. The flower is basically two upward diagonal cuts, like an X. Cut from low on the left to high on the right, then bring the blade down on the right and cut again from low on the right to high on the left. Eventually you'll be able to connect the end of the cut to the beginning of the next cut and it will become more of a ∞ shape. Good luck on the flower, it takes time and practice, but if you work hard and be patient you'll get it!
