Same here. No failures through hundreds of rounds and sights are right on the money. Only thing I find objectionable is that it's a little snappy. I think it's the high bore axis.

@@mrgunplug1034 You could clean and oil it but also try different ammo. Try different brands and switch between hollow point and round nose. Also, take it apart and make certain everything's put together correctly like the guide rod and spring.

This is a sample size of one. When my work switched to this firearm we had to go to the range. When we go to the range, it’s a large event. Hundreds of shooters with hundreds of Sig M18 pistols. The problems he is having does not reflect the weapons performance. After spending the day with it I purchased one for myself. I get that this video is for recreational shooters but please don’t take his experience as the norm for this pistol. Please go out and shoot one before you write it off.

I don’t understand why Sig is still using that grip module. The X-series of grip modules are so much more comfortable to shoot as well as getting your hand higher up for a lower bore axis.

My first P320 was an X Carry. Compared to the standard model the only thing I liked better about the module was the magwell, and to be honest I hated the trigger. The little tab or tail on the bottom of the flat trigger was always extremely uncomfortable by the 2-300 round point.

On the multitude of M18s we have had come through and be used for LTC or just at the range, most had to be shot 500 times to wear that tight spring into form. Bc of the length of time and amount of rounds (demanded by military) the spring comes a bit tight (this is exacerbated by being a shorter spring, than m17, full size, or X5 full. They work well once broken in. We have only seen 1 other p320 that had its sights off like that (and were non adj..... sometimes people mess with those adj sights before shooting or the store does (on adj sight variations) to show how much they can be altered. That being said, this is a combat gun, meant to have combat aim (shows more on short sight radius. Combat aim is different from 3 gun, or target aim guns in that you hold just under on target aim set ups vs combat aim set ups , where covering the object with front sight is the philosophy. Great vids, love the content, keep them coming. You make our jobs easier, when people can come in with a certain amount of info.

Generally, most quality issues are production issues. You can’t run a factory that makes a lot of defects and expect QA, or QC yo catch everything. You have to work on it from both ends. Make the processes produce statistically fewer defects, and make sure you have no weaknesses in your inspection methods. Just my opinion.
@7pines77

It’s definitely production issues, but that means that the guys machining the parts are pushing parts through that are out, and QA is letting them..Companies like the one I work for have a very strict QA and very tight tolerances on the parts we run

The G series are good guns. I've had many (3 G2's and now a G3). The only problems I experienced after many thousands of rounds was 2 of them started to not hold open when empty. Turned out the the catch itself was made of not great metal and eroded over time. I was able to correct it with new parts but it is what it is. My very first G2 (bought in 2016) had a shit barrel right out of the box. Sent fliers no matter what ammo I used. So far the G3 has had no issues but I haven't shot it a ton with the Chinavirus shit going on and I carry a CZ P10c

Sig pistols are generally over-sprung like most other manufacturers because most owners wouldn't change recoil springs at normal intervals. The M17/M18 pistols were designed and built to shoot 124gr NATO spec ammo. This could be a possible reason for the failures and for the point of impact with the sight. Sig along with most manufacturers don't do an adequate enough job of letting the normal consumer know things like this which is to say the least inconsiderate of their customers.

The reason why this gun does better at closer range is probably due to the shorter barrel length. This was actually one of the primary reasons why the Navy SEALs switched to the Sig 226 (MK25) from the Beretta. This gun looks cool but sad to see that it jammed that many times in the video. Sad because I love my Sig P226 (MK25), and I really wanted to look into this gun. Glad I saw this review.

Robbert Loevendie you can tell by the serial number. The 229 is an excellent gun. They fly off shelves. Personally I carry a legion vs in 9, while a lot of our 3 letter govt agency associates and past coworkers employ them in 357 Sig or make sure they are using the +p or +p+ 9s from Underwood or similar quality ammo. The Xtreme defender is super popular among p229 carriers bc wether it’s +p, +p+, it’s an easy controllable shooter.

The Sig P320 was the first gun I ever shot. From a family that has never seen a gun, my friend took me to a range before he left to go home to England (shot P320, Glock 19 and Glock 26). I bought a Bersa Thunder .22 ~10 years ago because it was a Walther PPK knock-off and similar to a Hungarian FEG .22 (?AP-22) I had. Its been a wonderful pistol! Maybe 400 rds and NO malfunctions with a mix of ammo. So I got a Bersa Thunder .380 and have maybe only 200 rds through it with 3 different brands of ammo and its hasn't had a malfunction yet. Kind of a budget-brand but I love them. Simple blow-back, accurate, reliable, affordable... I also own a bunch of .45's and 9mm's but that Bersa .380 is the one I'll take camping/back-packing because its light, accurate, and I trust it.

I purchased an M18 this morning because I considered it a sign of fate that my shop actually had one in stock. Without getting political, they've been largely unavailable with everything going on in the world so I jumped on it. Keeping this video in mind, the first couple of magazines were rough. I did have two casings not eject properly and once my slide did not fully seat forward when I released it after reloading. After that though, it seemed to get better and better. Although I think we should expect to be able to drive nails at short range without failures straight out of the box, I don't think it's necessarily abnormal to have early issues. We practice and train with our firearms and as we tune our skills to a particular gun they also break in and get better. After 50 rounds, I was anxious about the money I had just spent. After 300, I was feeling better. After another 500, I'm hoping any and all concerns will be put to bed. I'll be waiting patiently for your 1000 round review.

I bought the m17 and m18. I haven't put a round through the M18. They both come pre lubricated. Sig recommends 124 to 147 grain 9mm ammo and requires a 500 to 1500 round break in period. I did that with my M17 using 115 grain 9mm and it had 2 malfunctions. The malfunctions stopped after 100 rounds and never had a malfunction using the recommended ammo 9mm 124 to 147 grain bullets. With the pre lubricant it is on so thick you need to get both models very hot and you will never have a malfunction again. Just my experience. Thanks for the video.

The malfunctions on the Sig shown here are a real disappointment. I expected better. As for the "aiming low", I believe the sights on the M18 are sighted using a "combat hold" as opposed to the center hold or six o'clock hold. This means that the white dot on the front sight is where the point of aim would be (as opposed to the top of the front sight in the center hold or above the front sight in the six o'clock hold.) Were you using the combat hold when shooting this firearm? Thanks for the great reviews, as always.

MusicMan1eAnda the high bore axis is likely because of the modular system, I’ve only looked at these not tore it down with a micrometer, but looks tight. If that the case, sales to the public is just their icing on the cake, after they ate the fat juicy burger of a government contract.

HONEST OUTLAW: CALL SIG customer service. They will send you a shorter front sight to correct elevation. Also when you put the sight in you can adjust it a hair to the right which will move your group left. The mil-spec M18 is sighted and designed for 124 grain Nato ammo. Which is really a +P in American specs. Gun is new, try hotter ammo, or a different brand or weight until the gun breaks in. As I am sure you know, different guns like different ammo. Funny. I didn’t notice any of this with mine. 500 rounds of various ammo. FMJ and HP in various weights. Not one FTF or FTE. He mentioned muzzle flip. I actually commented to the RSO that I surprised at the LACK of muzzle flip from this firearm. Mine came with 1 17 and 2 21 round magazines. On the very first use the 17 round mag would not load the 17th round and it failed to lock the slide back. When I reloaded that magazine it took all 17 rounds easily and locked the slide back from then on. Odd thing to have a break in on, but whatever! I’m a 1911 guy so this is definitely a step in a different direction for me as a shooter. I like it though. Much better in my hand than a Glock or CZ. To each his own I guess.

Now in the last few years, I’ve had some troubled Sigs, two different 229’s, a 226 and an MCX. I don’t trust their quality control that much anymore due to my experience. I do like my three 320s for the most part but I tend to shoot low with them as well, especially my 320X compact. Could be me but it seems, like here, others have the same issue.
