Thanks for the awesome review. I was considering both lenses along with the Tokina 10-18mm ATX f2.8 which was on sale for $399. I have a Sony A6700 with the Sigma 18-50mm f2.8 and the little Sigma 10-18mm was the perfect complement for my compact kit. In the end the compact size and the minimum focus distance of the Sigma was what won me over the Tamron and the Tokina. I initially bought a Sony 11mm f1.8 but I found that it was too wide for a street lens. In the end the 10-18mm zoom suited my purposes better as a walk around lens and as you pointed out can also be used indoors as a studio lens. This kit fits in a 3L Peak Design Bag and I find that I take it out most of the time instead of my full frame kit. My friends are surprised that this APSC kit is lighter and more compact than even their Micro Four Thirds Kit.

Thanks so much for comparing these two lenses. I think you are one of the first doing this even though it's so obvious to compare these two lenses. I own already the Tamron 18-300mm for APSC as an over all travelling lens but thinking of a wide angle zoom to complete the set (not talking about some primes as Zeiss Touit 32, Zeiss Batis 25 and a Samyang 12). i originally wanted the tamron, then was leaning towards the sigma when it came out, but i stumbled across a deal i couldn't pass up on the tamron and couldn't be happier with it. I haven't felt the need for the extra mm on the wide end, but the extra reach, at least for me as a travel/ everyday lens, on the zoom end has definitely come in handy. I'm sure the sigma being sigma is a great lens, but the tamron has been great to me! I appreciate all the advice and insights on the two side by side and the original reviews. The Ulanzi sounds surprisingly better, especially at the low end frequency. Of course the distance range is lower as is the bitrate, but shouldn't really make that much of a difference if you're going on KZfaq . I guess the build quality is what matters. As I commented on Mark's Sigma 10-18 video, I bought the Tamron 11-20 the day I learned from Mark that the new Sigma was released. Comparing number-wise I had a bit of buyer's remorse. 🙈 But I brought the Tamron along on a recent trip where I shot a lot of video with it, and I was pleasantly surprised with the extra reach the Tamron has. I'd have to switch lenses much more often with the Sigma. That 20mm doesn't sound like much, but it just makes the shots feel less "wide angle", than the still relatively wide feel of 18mm. I recommend trying for yourself to compare the two.

@@scannerapps3503 Recommend to compare the two in your hands. Last week had the chance to hold the Sigma, and boy is it lighter! There’s that mental thing on whether you’d grab a lens with you, and weight counts a lot. Especially for a focal range that isn’t the usual mid-range. The other day I weighted my options (pun intended) whether I wanted to carry the extra weight of the 11-20, or found 17 wide enough. The Sigma would have been a no-brainer.

I am walking normally. You can’t walk fast when vlogging - it looks ridiculous and no mirrorless camera will look good. People are not walking at a fast pace in movies for good reason. I still use catalyst all the time. Many people do. My computer takes 3 minutes for one minute of footage. What you want is an action cam - you’ll never be satisfied with cameras if you’re going to walk carelessly and briskly

For me, 2mm length is more important instead of 1mm wider + center sharpness. Definitely Tamron is the winner!!!

Interesting argument that the better wide angle is the one with less wide angle 😂

@pdub422 The perfect lens for me would be the 10-35mm f2.8 in APSC mode, but the 12-28mm would also work. 😁

@@nicuchitineac1950 everyone has their use case, I'm just teasing about the wanting more zoom, I have the Tamron 17-70 so don't really need the top end of the 11-20, although I do own that 11-20, I got it a couple years ago and it's a very nice lens! I just got the 70-350 Sony recently and excited to use that more, it's nice having all these new options popping up!

You can always crop in, but you cant add to your frame if the lens isn't wide enough. Objectively i think sigma wins here, as it is wider. The missing 2mm at the long end are no issue at all with cropping.
