Buy the 16mm F1.4 & 30mm F1.4 Sigma lenses for less than the 18-35 art lens, and save even more not having to buy the MC-11 adapter. If you are a a6300/a6500 shooter.

The Sigma 16 mm F1.4 can be used up to 32mm via Clear Image Zoom. It can be zoomed from 16 to 32mm while shooting video. A huge plus. I'll be posting some samples on my channel in the near future.

This is the first of your reviews I have seen, and I commend you on this video's tight organization, on-point choice of observations to present, and its consistent, forward moving flow. A far more 'pro-worthy', no nonsense little production than I normally see elsewhere in the camera gear category here. Congratulations! ...Subscribed.

Thank you. Sorry for bothering, but in detail, for example when you showed your leather gloves, is that filmed with the Panasonic or Sony? Can't stop noticing that sharpness :P Since i'm replying, i'd like to ask you another question. With the Sigma 19mm 1.4, which i've been falling in love, would it be complicated to use on an a6300 instead of the a6500, since the 6300 does not have built-in stabilization? Thank you again! Anyway i just subscribed, i do really enjoy your quality content, keep it up! :)

I have tested that, just forgot to include it in the video. At the same settings the brightness of the scene is the same, I'm not able to tell the difference on even on 10 bit monitor, for some reason, the metering in camera exposes the scene differently at F1.4, I'm not sure why is that, but I have seen that with multiple cameras / lenses.

Great comparsion again! I'm looking to maybe buy an A6500 soon. My budget allows 1-2 lenses and main purpose will be travel (landscapes, architecture, close-ups, timelapses, animals, sports) and weddings (low-light, portraits, zoom). I was thinking the sigma 18-35mm would cover almost everything in that range but it's not really portable for travel or with a gimbal. Some people suggested a fast wide lens + 18-105 kit combo but the sigma just looks so good. I can also buy the sigma later if I get more paid jobs. Which lenses would you recommend? I'm open to all suggestions/brands.
@TheHybridShooter
@TheHybridShooter 6 жыл бұрын
Thank you, for travelling I would wait for some review of the new Sony 18-135 F3.5-5.6 OSS, I'm personally not a fan of 18-105 due to it's size, slow aperture and average optical qualities. Sony 18-135mm F3.5-5.6 OSS and Sigma 16mm F1.4 or 30mm F1.4 could be a very good combination for travelling. 16-50mm kit lens is also worth a try.

was wondering if you could give me some advice. I currently have a 16mm f1.4 sigma for my a6300 but was looking to add another lens to my collection. I was thinking about the sigma 18-35mm + mc11 adapter but I'm sure it won't balance on my zhiyun crane and I'm also worried about the auto focus and shaky-ness. I like to create cinematic visuals and travel cinematic. would the sigma 30mm f1.4 be the best option or would you recommend anything else?
@TheHybridShooter

If you want to use it specifically on the gimbal, Sigma 30mm F1.4 or Sony 35mm F1.8 OSS will be better option. It is possible to use 18-35 on zhiyun crane but it is not very convenient.

I own the sigma 30mm 1.4, it feels wide and I think it is considered wide on the a6500. I am using this lens mainly for portraits because it feels very zoomed in my opinion and thats the main reason I want to get the 16mm. Will there be a major difference when I will get the 16mm in focal length? or should I invest into like a 50>mm for actual close up portrait photos and keep my 30mm as my "wide angle" lens? hope you or anyone else could awnser this.

You seem to really like Sony A6500, so I decided to pick up a Sony camera (mostly for video). Because of my budget, I could only afford the A6000, having in mind that I have to spend some money on lenses. But 4K doesn't matter to much for me because I'm waiting for a 4K 60 fps camera. I would not get the A6500 even if I had the money for that reason. Better for me to get a cheaper body and buy a 4K camera with all of the features that I want. later on when it's released and has a good price. DAMN, the AF is impressive on the A6000 in video mode. In stills, AF-C is perfect but I wish it was just as fast as Panasonic cameras in AF-S. The A6000 is a perfect fit with my Zhiyun Crane v2 because of the AF. So far, I'm really liking it and I don't find it irritating to use as some have said. The menus are fine and I got used to the controls in less than two days. The only things that I'm curious to know about is the colours. What settings do you use if you don't colour grade? I want the best picture out of the camera and it is very interesting what settings you use other than S-LOG. Do you think 550 USD was a good price for the A6000 with the kit-lens? I think so but I want to know what your thoughts are on the A6000.
@TheHybridShooter
@TheHybridShooter 6 жыл бұрын
Yes, 550 USD is good price with kit len, A6000 is a great camera for that price, I actually colorgrade everything, so I don't really know what are good out of camera settings, but I quite liked picture profile off on A6500.

issue with A6000 you have no control over the audio, levels change automatically . I have 2 A6000, the A6500 is quite pricey. If price goes under 1000 USD I may consider it. Build quality of A6300 / A6500 is better. Common issue with A6000 is the rear button become unresponsive and circuit board has to be replaced. Issue does not happen with the more recent models. This according to a Sony authorized repair center in NYC. I had to take in one of my A6000s twice for the issue.

The sigma 18-35 is technically a good lens but a big hype in terms of practical use. It is good for video use but has very limited use for stills. The range is too short for a walk around zoom. How often would you need to shoot wider than 35mm at 1.8? Probably only in situation were you need more light. How many of those situations can you apply flash/tripod which will result in a better picture? Now consider the extra cost, weight, possible focus issues vs a native 35mm prime.
@TheHybridShooter
@TheHybridShooter 6 жыл бұрын
You are partially right, I don't use it that much outside of making product reviews, it is not for everyone, there are some limitations, although I use it at wide angles at F1.8 very often and I have never had any AF issues with MC-11. For many people it is exactly what they need.

18-35 is my 2nd most used lens after sony 10-18. I tend to use the sigma for professional paid applications. Its zoom and large aperture makes it ideal for many types of shooting including video but the downside is the less ideal focusing , af noise in video and weight. The IQ it delivers can really rival full frame quality ( i have 5dm4) with the right tweaking in ps and lr. 10-18 is my go-to for vlogging, personal trips, group shots, etc. very easy to carry and above average IQ tho not as great as art lenses

I have the Sigma 18-35 on a Nikon d500. This focal range is limiting if you like a super zoom . Then you’ll get that crappy performance. I love this lens and works phenomenally for me. 27-50 ff equivalent wow what a great usable range. How many people have made a living with just one of these focal ranges. 27-28mm fov is one of my favorites. 35 and 50 mm are classics people live and die by. How can one complain about having 28-35 and 50 in one lens and the best of image quality of any prime in theses

Most of the time I shoot wider than 35mm (50mm equivalent) as I shoot indoor. The fact that you are not using this focal length range does not mean everyone else are also not using and it certainly is not just a hype.

hey your using too much "Teal" in your thumbnails. It hurts the eyes and looks oversaturated/not natural.

hello, do you have the same pulsating problem in the sigma 16mm f1.4 when using autofocus in video mode? since you mentioned the sigma 19mm have that problem.

No, Sigma 19mm F2.8 is the only one with that problem.
