The once loyal commander of the Maverick Hunters turned into a tyrannical dictator. Funnily enough, the boss fights against Sigma in MMX2 and X3, mainly his first form, foreshadowed the Marvel Vs. Capcom series when you look at those.

There was a lot wrong with MVCI, but Sigma was by far one of the brightest spots of the game. His Infinity Storm lines always hit perfectly, too. "I SHALL CRUSH THIS WORLD!!!!" I hope he gets another opportunity in a future VS game.

It’s a bit funny how many of Sigma’s battles are pop culture references, especially when he ends up alongside those inspirations in this game (X2’s claws reference Wolverine, and X3’s boomerang shield likely references Captain America). I kinda wish he got to use his energy scythe from X4, since Zero already uses a saber, but I get that X1 is his most well known form.

Thinking back on it now, it's really weird that it took this long for Sigma, or any Megaman villain, to be in a Vs game. It is interesting that he pulls so much from X8 in particular, as I feel like most crossover content usually pulls from either X1 or X4 (which seem to be the two most popular entries) so a focus on X8 is interesting choice, doubly interesting due to some story reasons I won't spoil. Also, really trying not to have an overblown fan squeal seeing Breath of Fire III Ryu and Rei in a Sonic the Hedgehog comic xD

for his Overlord Laser, it looks like he's doing the same pose he did in X4, in his second phase (not the final one) where he starts to fire laser continuously if his scythe hits one of the walls (instead of the ground)

This was my most anticipated video since I never bought any DLC in MVCI, for reasons we all understand I'm sure. I didn't know what Sigma did and I wanted to know if his moves were original or callbacks to the X games, which I knew you'd explain in great detail, and you delivered. This series is always great to watch, and educational for not only the games themselves but the media surrounding them whether be the home games or the comics.

As someone who still really enjoys MvCI for what it is in spite of all of it's flaws, it feels nice seeing you highlight some of it's characters as of recent. Sigma esspecially is a treat 'cause he's almost like, "Heavyweight Zero," to me (Even if they don't actually play all too simillarly). And, as you mention, his VA is just perpetually giving it 150% in his line delivery. Just screams (literally), "I am an evil sonuvagun, and am enjoying every moment of it." In the off chance we ever get an MvC4, or any other VS Style game on the MvC level for that matter, I hope this incarnation of Sigma returns or at least is used as a nice starting point. He's definitely one of the biggest highlights of MvCI to me, and I wish more people could've experienced this take on him. (Or, y'know, someone could mod him into UMvC3. Whichever happens first).

Also, and this isn't much about Sigma, but the whole Megaman X / Maverick Hunter X continuity. Spoilers for The Day of Sigma and Megaman X2, just to be sure. In Maverick Hunter X, it is shown that Dr. Cain is killed during Sigma insurgence via one of the missiles probably targetting the place or the blast happening close by, while in Megaman X2, Dr. Cain is still a force in the game that would help reassemble Zero in case you managed to grab all Zero's parts from the X Hunters, or have the base raided and lose Zero's Control Chip plus any Zero piece you collected if you haven't finished getting all three. It would be interesting to see where a possible Maverick Hunter X2 would go knowing that the MHX follows a continuity of it's own.

Ahh yes, evil Buzz Lightyear, in all seriousness, I absolutely love Sigma in MVCI, he's on one of my two best teams in that game, (Those being X and Nova, as well as Jedah and Sigma) I can definitely say I'm really happy with how he turned out as a Mega Man fan, even if I would've preferred Axl or Vile. And yeah, his acting is great. (Although I do think I like his Maverick Hunter X actor more) In other news, I was able to get my hands on both Tekken 6, and Virtua Fighter 4 Evolution yesterday, both being my first games in their series.

Not sure what it is, but these videos feel really cozy to watch. Like comfort video type shit. I love how much research you do and respect you give to the source material. Always fun learning where this and this came from, or just some cool trivia relating to their series.

Even though not a lot of people like MVCI for certain reasons, at least they got some new villains playable like Sigma, Ultron, and Jedah. Hope to see them get some attention later on the line

Some other fact that you might miss : counter teleport is a reference to the x7 counter move that zero got from soldier stonekong where it function pretty much the same as this game but without the teleport Sigma other two color are a reference to past villain he has work with : silver for Red (x7) and black for Dynamo (x5,x6).

I always wanted to see a prequel to the x series where sigma was the hero.and the last boss being wily unleashing zero as the final boss in a last ditch effort.all leading up to MMX.

Good history retrospective on Sigma... However, in regards to Mega Man X8... Saying that Sigma's defeat is "permanent" at that point, I think might be in error. Case in point: Mega Man X4. When playing either as X or as Zero, Sigma is defeated aboard the "Final Weapon" space station created by Repliforce... and... it is floating in space!! Somehow, Sigma manages to find a way to return in no less than three different forms in Mega Man X5! He ALWAYS has a back-up. Not to mention, New Generation Reploids, while "immune" to the Maverick virus, are able to become Sigma and/or go Maverick at will.

Ah, Vs Infinite. Hated looking at it, LOVED playing it! Sigma came too late, but at least he made it in! On a side note, I feel that Capcom would do well by making a Mega Man fighting game. They have enough characters with 10 games! 11 counting Mega Man and Bass! Making an X fighter a a sequel. Honestly, I would LOVE to see this happen just to see these characters in 1v1 fights à la MvC!

26:05 Local Teppen nerd here ready to drop a wall of text; the art you got this from is the card "Civilization Rebel Sigma", which was kinda infamous for being such a busted card during the seasons it was allowed. It, to this day I’m pretty sure, is the only card in the game to have the "Infinite Revenge" ability, which lets him come back with more Attack and HP after being destroyed every single time… fitting for Sigma, but a nightmare for the meta. I’d like to think that the card’s (over)-usage is what inspired the team at GungHo to have Sigma be the main antagonist of an entire trilogy of expansions, "Echoes of a Lost Super-Civilization", which was the Jurassic Rampage, Operation Cannon Spike, and Sigma’s Invasion card packs. I dunno where else to put this, but I know you’ve mentioned being a big BOF3 fan here and in other videos, so I think it’d be remiss of me to not mention the fact that game specifically is the one that gets characters to appear, including an entire trilogy where Myria’s the main antagonist. Nina being an EX skin for Jill also means its technically the first time BOF has been playable in a crossover game, I’m pretty sure.

Sigma is truly the most powerful villain in all of the Capcom Universe, next to the likes of Dr. Wily and Bison, of course. And his voice actor in MVC Infinite, Chris Tergliafera, it was a cross between Charlie Fontana from X4 and Gerald Matthews from Maverick Hunter X, truly menacing. Well done! I just wish we see more of him in any future fighting game from Capcom (that is if Capcom makes another one that is). If so, I wish they use Reaper Sigma from X4, that is my favorite of all of Sigma's forms.

Considering Capcom and Marvel did really not care about that game, Sigma was done right, alongside X and Jedah. I would love seeing Vile playable in the Vs series, he could be a heavy character with tons of firepower, something like a fusion between Saki and PTX from TVC 😁

When I used to play MvCI alot I had a friend who mained Sigma with Zero and boy was he an interesting dude to deal with granted I did not do myself any favors cause I played Firebrand and Jedah. This video rules cause i thought alot of sigma's stuff was a bit random this just makes me realize I never got far enough in X8 to see his fight.

Sigma having spikes in his lab and adding spikes to his costume when he turned evil is also kind of funny when you consider that spikes are instakill hazards in the Mega Man games. Though interestingly certain spikes in the X games just do a lot of damage instead of instakilling, and these exceptions to the rule include spikes used by Sigma in his X4 fight, lol (good on them for not putting instakill shit in the final boss tbh)

Just want to let you know that this series of videos is fucking awesome. As a longtime fan of Mega Man X, I love how much importance Sigma has in this game's plot. It's a damn shame that MvCI couldn't become something as whacky and beloved as MvC3.

Jedah's VA definitely did a good job with what he was given, but I find that along with his redesigned outfit that doesn't look like a gakuran anymore, MVCI's Jedah feels a bit like a generic demon guy. (the only Darkstalkers character who should feel generic is Demitri.) In my mind he should sound either Italian (due to some of his move names), like a teen heartthrob, or both ...the removal/censorship of the blood stuff also takes away a bit of his original charm IMO but I understand why they did that at least

If I had to live in one of the Megaman worlds, it's either gonna be Legends, BattleNetwork or Starforce.

But the meaning seems deeper that the explained in Vlog. Capcom seems to love nostalgics references and Easter Eggs. And them always put back something related to past games into sequels. This happened not only with Megaman franchise, but in others as well. It isn't the first time to it run on, and won't be the last. Believe it.

I hope Sigma gets to come back in the base roster of the next Versus game.

Sigma may of debuted in considerably one of the worst verses games, but I'm glad he at least got a time to shine! It's been a while since we were able to see another X character but who knows! There may be a chance his move sets will be Revisited again much like Zeros did from tatsunoko vs Capcom into Marvel versus Capcom 3!❤

I dont think almos all the moves comes from x8 for example the lasers attacks mostly comes from x4 in his second state then x8 used similar attacks
