The change is Rogue's color pallet in MVC2 was to mirror her colors in the comics at the time. But I guess they didn't want to have to redo the whole sprite.

Okay, wow, I've never played X-Men vs SF and I had no idea Rogue was basically Kirby in that game! I had known from the cartoon that she could steal powers, but I only played as her in MvC2, which is much more limited in its application of the ability for obvious reasons,as you stated. No lie, this really makes me want to try to track down a copy of X-Men vs SF, no wonder you wanted to main her in that game!

Offeribg some extra info here 🙂 - Hyper Repeating Punch can be done on XvSF when dping a Tag Team Hyper Combo. - Again on XvSF, when paired with Zangief, can do a Tag Team Hyper Atomic Buster (not sure if this is official or just a mod, tho) - Rogue cameoed as a Background character on one of the stages of MSHvSF and as a Heroes and Heralds card on UMvC3. - Not really sure about this but I recall reading somewhere online a long time ago that the reason for Rogue's color scheme on MvC2 was because that was her colors in the comics at the time of game development. This was most likely around the Hunt for Xavier arc where Marrow was an active X-Man thus, we have her in the game too.

Thank you for the deep Dive (Kick) into Rogue as a character and her gameplay. Your introduction to Rogue is actually the same as mine. I got to really know Rogue as a person thanks to the 90s X-Men Animated Series and X-Men vs. Street Fighter. I loved her character in the cartoon. She was a badass, a strong powerhouse punch girl 💪, a sweetheart, a wonderful arc overcoming her insecurities, and of course that’s on top of her being a beautiful southern belle. She’s honestly been one of my fiction crushes for such a long time now 🙏🏽😊❤️ She’s definitely my Top 5 favorite X-Men Also thank you for your comic reading recommendations, it’s great to know how much Rogue is even more fleshed out in the X-Men books you mentioned. Gambit is also another one of my favorite X-Men too. Like you said on your video dedicated to him, I definitely he is super cool! I especially love Rogue and Gambit as a couple too, which is also helped thanks to their romantic dynamic in the cartoon. Also I was definitely happy that they both finally got hitched. I pray that Marvel doesn’t pull any BS like they do with Peter & MJ and they actually STAY married as a loving couple. I love how in XvSF she basically plays like Kirby in Smash Bros before he actually got to be in the Smash series. Whenever a real true MVC4 happens, Rogue is definitely high on my list of X-Men I want to see return to the roster along with Cyclops and Gambit.

If there's ever a new Marvel Vs Capcom and Rogue is on the roster, I hope they'll actually let her steal moves from her opponents. Sure it would take a lot of work, but looking at Kirby in Smash an Seth in Street Fighter V, I think it would be worth it. Also, her yelling OBJECTION if she copied Phoenix Wright would've been awesome.

My FIRST experience with X-Men vs Street FIghter was an short blurb in a magazine about how the game was coming out with a single screenshot of Rogue, Ken and Juggernaut. And all I could think about was "fuck they FINALLY put Rogue in one of these!" Rogue was my favorite. She was so cool and sassy yet so tortured and her powers were so cool and the powers she got from Miss Marvel was so cool and the way it was shown in the cartoon was so cool and the way she was a former villain that joined the group was so cool and the way she was literally so strong without being a stick in the mud like can happen when some people make strong female characters and when I saw the show in english eventually the way she had an accent was so cool... I don't want to let nostalgia take over but...like there's no other character like 90's Rogue, right? You can't get all that anywhere else, am I wrong here? And once I finally got down to picking mains in MvC2 the fact that my favorite character had a dive kick AND a command grab didn't hurt. She's definitely one of my mains alongside Cap, Spidey and Tron.

Rogue's main gimmick being changed in MvC2 was definitely a downgrade, but a very understandable one based on how large the roster is. It's a shame this franchise died because of Disney being so controlling over Capcom.

I can for sure agree about that theme being one of the best in the game. I feel like that one, Cyclops, and Magneto really were something special to me.

Absolutely loved how Capcom did their homework with Rogue and gave her such beautiful winning poses animation, and wonderful music! I do have to admit this is one of my favorite songs from X-Men versus Street fighter! It's a Melody that supports her uplifting Spirit but then kind of turns out at the end where it makes you contemplate that she longs to love but could never truly be touched due to her power! The fact that you can feel that through the melody is quite magical, much like the enthusiasm and love we feel for our favorite Southern Belle❤

I grew up watching her ever since she first debut on X-men comics back in the early 1970s and 80s. Storm is my number one character I have a huge crush on. Ahh Rouge, I have basically have the exact same thoughts I have on her as I do Cammy, I think she's alright, but she also never really spoke to me, but as I said on the same video, I like my rushdowns, so maybe once I play her I'd like her a bit more, as for my experience in other media, I remember her being in Wolverine and the X-men but that's about it, as for what I remember about her in that series? in the words of Somecallmejohnny "Jack and sh-, that's what", one thing I can say about her is that she does fulfill a niche in a move stealer, and that is pretty cool, (Even though I would personally prefer the SFV version of Seth for that niche in a new game) and that is a reason why she is a good character to bring back, other than her being a fan-favorite. since this comment isn't too long, I'm gonna mention some Marvel characters I'd like to see covered, Nova, (A super fun character that also does what Lucario in Smash Bros wishes he could do well) Sentinel, (A very infamous character that I've also started to love playing in Marvel 3) Thor, (A character I feel should've not taken as long as it did to make it into playable status) Dormamu, (Some of the most fun I've had playing a zoner) Cyclops, (A character I'm surprised wasn't in MVC1) Thanos, (One of a few characters that got a whole @$$ redesign in terms of moveset) Shuma-Gorath, (One of the most interesting inclusions in the series) and finally, Ghost Rider. (Just a cool character, I haven't actually tried him out yet lol)

Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and 3DS finally had copy abilities for a 50+ character roster, but Rogue didn't come back in Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite, which came out after these games. Honestly, I wish Capcom made an Ultimate edition of Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite just to add Rogue back and give her copy abilities on a 50+ character roster since it was possible for Kirby in Smash 4 and Ultimate. Like Hsien-Ko, Rogue is one of my most requested characters to return for Marvel vs. Capcom Infinite. They did not return, unfortunately.

I still wish Rogue made it into MvC1. The roster in that game would be small enough they might be able to keep her power stealing, and I need Rogue with a Mega Buster!

I'm still upset to this day that we haven't received a proper Marvel collection on modern consoles and only that bullshit 1up arcade machine. Capcom KNOWS they'd make a killing by releasing these games from confinement, but instead they're going after mods.
