In today's video I give a breakdown and overview on the Williams Strength Signature Leg Curl & Leg Extension. I answer some popular questions like what's the difference between this and the EliteFTS version, how much did it cost, and if it's actually worth the price.

i have the Elite FTS version and the padding is very smooth vinyl. FYI, when you put it in the incline position doing leg curls it removes the glutes from the lift and forces more tension on to the hamstring. a lot of people use their glutes doing curls because they load to much weight. you will see this by your hips coming off the platform. Same powder coating also and it does wear off a bit where you adjust the pads. I also use kubuki kaddilac bar or the HD trap bar for seal rows. It works better than the standard barbell. oveall i love the machine. I also break straps when doing leg curls with it but not leg extensions.

That is a solid bench by itself and I like the versatility of it for seal rows. You talk about how big it is though as if it’s a problem. Honestly though I think that’s an asset given the purpose of the machine. Most people aren’t bolting this to the floor in the home gym setting - and given how much weight is going to be moving on one end with the reps, you need a solid base to work with a legitimate size frame for stability. This is not a starter piece I would recommend, but the market it’s geared for are typically not people just beginning on their fitness journey - and that’s okay. You can’t beat that customization on the market currently, which is sweet.

Great, helpful review. Regarding the use of band pegs, I suspect that would be an excellent feature to have for leg curls due to the strength curve of these plate loaded machines, but is there any appreciable advantage to using bands on the leg extension since the weight would be heaviest at the top range of the motion anyways, where the bands would be stretched and applying additional resistance? Also, have you tried doing standing single leg curls on this machine? Thank you.

Solid video and love your channel. However, general statement on leg extension + curls: I feel like Im taking crazy pills, this is twice the price of the GMWD leg extension+curl which does thinfs this does not do, like adjusting the back pad for leg extensions and it does standing leg curls, plus is set up for standing leg curls. Probably more importantly is that the resistance curve on my cheap Amazon version seems to be exactly the same or at least not significantly different. If companies start figuring out how to adjust the resistance curve (sounds like Prime Fitness kinda does that but seems imperfect) then I will be willing to spend this much. With all that said, this thing looks sick with the logo and matches Brandons gym aesthetic which is cool.

i believe old school bodybuilders did leg extensions laying down, to get a better stretch on the quads, but commercial gym's went away from it because it was intimidating and funny looking to the general public it has an old school look, so it can be one off the reasons it has an incline to do laying leg extensions a bit more comfortable then just flat laying leg extensions

That looks sick! I'm building out a basement gym and have always appreciated your insight! Any thoughts about stall mat vs rolled rubber flooring? If I'm making a deadlift platform anyways, it seems like the rolled rubber would be a nicer finish with less seams and be less likely to move around.
@BasementBrandon
@BasementBrandon 2 жыл бұрын
Rolled rubber is nice b/c you don't have as many seams to deal with and typically has less odor. The downside is that it's usually more expensive per sq ft, isn't as thick, and can be difficult to move.

@@meisdetermined That's a great point to consider! If I go with 8mm rolled rubber, I'd probably need 4' x 28' rolls. Based on what I've read, 8mm rolled rubber is 2.2lbs per square foot. I like the design. I don't see many leg extension machines that allow you to train properly, lying down in order to get a maximum stretch. Most have you in a seated position. BTW decline for hamstring curl is for the same reason you get a better stretch in the hamstring muscles (same reason why donkey calf raises are better than standing).

@@bampo525 I'm not a huge fan of their business practices in general, like stealing designs (including one of my own). They also tend to not do their research when it comes to equipment they design themselves and the V1 of most of their products have severe flaws. I still recommend them in some cases to people (like their lat pull down or SSB), but it's usually those products that they just copied from another manufacturer and import for cheaper.

Wow $1800 that’s why you don’t see any reviews in this plate loaded crazy price 😂

They make less expensive versions that aren't customized, but Williams Strength is more of a commercial provider vs home gym.

Tbh, all of these prices seem crazy for a leg curl/extension machine. They aren’t complicated enough to justify being $1,500+, let alone $5,000

You have a point but you’re also ignoring the quality. You can get a $200 power rack that holds your bar and does the job, doesn’t mean a giant 3x3 rack with all the bells and whistles should cost the same because the function is the same.. I mean the 5k one is a cable machine using the same 3x3 steel tubing with 4 way hole spacing that Sorinex uses for everything else. It does seated leg extension as well as seated leg curl with a selectiorized weight stack of 300lb. You can’t even get a 300lb weight stack with cables and guide rods for under 1500.. you’re right that 5k is high for accessory leg work, but it’s not really high for a commercial piece of that quality.. shipped freight already assembled and welded at the base. Brandon’s model also seems like a solid piece for the price as well. Premium padding, all that steel, custom cut logos, to get something like that for under 2k when commercial quality adjustable benches cost around $1,500 is actually pretty solid. More than what 95% of people would pay for a home gym, but looks to be worth the cost as well as not overpriced for the quality.

These ones are more meant for facilities/gyms with multiple people beating the hell out of it, so they're overbuilt. If you're just training at home there are a lot of $300-$500 options that would prob do the job!

$1400 to1600 for a leg curl extension??!! Ridiculous. That's more than my entire gym setup of 10 different machines. I bought a used seated leg curl extension plate loaded for $150.
