We have no idea how the aliens perceive things. Something like a door might not stand out as it does to us. We look at things and see whether or not we can use them. If not, we data dump 'em. Consider trees: you see them, but could you pick out one tree from a similar tree in a line-up? Honestly, you cant'---you don't see trees as any more than wood or objec-in-my-way. If I took pics of five trees of the same species and you'd be hard pressed to tell me which one was the one you drove by every day. Therefore: it may be how they perceive the world rather than assuming they think like us.

Well, all doors we see them struggling with are barricaded. It’s essentially a wall at that point. So I never really understand how fly a spaceship helps one get through a blocked door. But the movie does show that their smart, and will bang on things to keep you distracted while they find another way in.

Misinformation. What makes you think pastor can't own guns? I mean, my pastor (one of several at the church) does. In fact we have plans to go shooting. We are commanded by God Almighty to protect our family. At times the Shepard must protect his flock from attacking wolves. Non-violence yes, everyone is called to love and respect the creation of the Lord, mankind. Thou shalt not kill. However, we are not meant to stand idly by and let atrocities happen. What we do we must do for the glory of God, if that means taking life to protect life, repent. Lament your weakness, lament the world, lament the evils we exist about, and repent the sins you commit, trust in the Lord for in Him you are saved. The theory is correct and Signs is one of the best movies ever made. Two more things I would like to add: The Crop Circle was a sigil for opening the gate to the Abyss which allowed the demons in. There is a whole other aspect there going on as to who made the Sigil (consciously or unconsiously), and also the closeness of the family enhances their psychic interconnection amongst one another as they are a very loving and close family. This is a very powerful aspect in their survival. Even the brother - whom I suspect may have unconsiously made the crop circle as he was a depressed/despondent and easily manipulated person for a demonic walk-in. This was also shown in how the TV took complete control of him. Great review Dave.

While MOST farmers will have a gun to defend against coyotes/wolves/small game/etc., as Mel Gibson's character is a former priest, I think it was more of a choice of being a "man of God" and a "man of peace" that he didn't for personal reasons, not practical reasons.
@GBDupree
@GBDupree 2 ай бұрын
Not to mention that a gun is usually needed for 2 reasons on a farm: to protect livestock from predators (their farm has no livestock). Or to protect from other people. In either case, he has guard dogs that are clearly trained to attack intruders as they are implied at the beginning of the film to attack the aliens that were near the kids. Not only that but the only people that he deals with is seemingly some prankster hoodlums or whatever you call them, harmless nuisances that may not even be a consistent issue. The movie shows that he relies on the police quite often, as he is friends with the cop that comes to his house. She also got there quick so she is probably familiar with getting there often. And on top of that, when he calls the police after seeing the crop circles he speaks as though he is seaking guidance and peace from a priest, even asking for closure so that he will be comforted. So he relies on the police as a higher power you could say. His unwillingness to confront things and care about safety rather than stick his head in the sand is a consistent theme of his character, to the point that its the main reason his son prefers the brother. Him not having a gun makes more sense if anything.

That is a pretty awesome theory and makes a lot of sense. Another scene that comes to mind is the girl who encounters Mel Gibson's character in town later and proceeds to go through an impromptu confessional session of her wrong-doings with him, even though he's clearly disinterested, showing that as much as he thinks he's turned from his faith it's still something that people in town regard him for and that he can't manage to escape. That seems to follow the idea of all of these "prophecies" happening through the film that he's dismissive of, but ultimately culminate in the film's resolution once he accepts it all. I just watched this 3 days ago! This is the second time you have reviewed a movie I watched about the same time. Scary!

Most farmers not only have a shotgun, but are pretty well armed with a variety of firearms. I am not a farmer and I’m very well armed.

Doesn't a bird crash into something invisible in the sky?

Yes, but you never see what. The demons can camouflage, so why couldn’t flying demons do the same.

The poster for the movie in the video gives off a “hellscape”vibe…like this theory a lot

I watched this movie so many times growing up that I never knew it was supposed to be scary/unsettling

Your explanation makes complete sense. This changes the movie entirely and makes it good now. I wish I'd picked up on this. Thanks for the video.

I have been telling people for Decades that Signs is an amazing movie... They just expected something else.

It's been well received in general and the demon theory makes it worse despite all the half baked ideas people make up in their heads to support it.

If Satan can whisk the creator of all from the middle of the wilderness to the pinnacle of the temple in Jerusalem, then conjuring up a fleet of UFO or space aliens out of thin air can't be a stretch.

Well, Satan \ Lucifer is an fallen cherubim, very powerful entity, basically can do almost of the miracles that Jesus did , and also made the Giants , and I think even dinosaurs \ dragons , Dna manipulation , at Noah event everything was corrupted. And miracles like Moses and the servants of the pharaoh with the snakes transforming into a staff... Matter manipulation....same as Jesus with water into wine . So Satan has retain he's powers after the fall ... Scary

Very true. Many Christians don't like to think about the power and hold the evil one has on this world.

@@Willy_TepesFirst chapter of John. Read it. Tell me what it says about Christ. Also, read Genesis. Read the section where Abraham greets both God on earth and refers to the God in heaven. Christ and God are one.
