You have about 7 chunks of active attention…music takes up a finite amount…2 or 3…more if you’re rocking out…associative driving takes one or two units depending on how shitty the drivers around you are…memory takes fewer chunks tilll you need to start actually searching in an unfamiliar area…then all distractions need to go away…it’s why parents say shut up when looking too…it’s a matter of active vs passive attention…and associative vs passive skills…doesn’t matter your age…the more active memory and attention a skill takes…the fewer chunks you can waste on passive activities…I was always annoyed by people who said “oh you turn down the radio to see better…”. No I don’t see better…fewer distractions let me concentrate so I don’t get hurt in an accident or drive by the turn off or miss the damn address and have to do it again…sheesh…🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

I understand, I am almost 50. My kids don't know how to react. I took one a few years ago to see a concert, many bands, but we'll just say Cannibal Corpse, Amon Amarth, Lamb of God, and fucking Slayer blew his mind

Not quite 50 but I seem to be cranky all the time, and for no rational reason. I notice most people around my age group (late 40’s/early 50’s) are the same way. Must be a middle age thing.

Is your blood glucose a bit low? That's what makes me cranky at times. I'll be 69 in a couple of weeks...
