How do I know my chin is unhappy? She runs up to the edge of the cage, asserts her dominance and gives me the evil eye.

I just got two chinchillas that were rehomed with me. I’m a little worried because one is way more active than the other. The first once jumps and plays and explores a lot while the other tends to sit in a corner in the cage. She comes out occasionally but her eyes are slightly more narrowed and her ears are down rather than up. I’ve only had them for 3-4 days and I didn’t get to ask questions about what they’re usually like as the original owners were in a hurry. She’s not limping and she drinks water and I think I’ve seen her eat but I’m just not sure. I’m debating taking her to the vet just to make sure but I don’t want to think I’m over reaching since I’m not familiar with what they’re usually like. The first one is ready to run out of my arms but the second more quiet one just sits still and lets me hold her??

Hi there! I got my chin about 2 months ago now and right from the get go, she was coming up to me. I literally brought her home, got her cage set up, put her in; and she came up to me. During playtime she runs around and climbs on me and is very interactive. She’s very sweet and gives nibbles a lot and sometimes even kisses. But sometimes randomly in the middle of the night (I have insomnia which is partly why I chose a chinchilla, cause we both have similar sleep schedules lol) she’ll start making this loud rhythmic sound that I cannot for the life of me figure out what it means. I’ve watched all of your sounds videos along with all of the others I’ve found and I can’t find the sound she makes or what it means. Everytime I go and check on her and she seems totally fine, she made the sounds about half an hour ago and she’s drinking water and eating pellets now and she’ll probably get the zoomies soon. I just wanna make sure she’s not upset or anxious 🥺

@@liamparker98 It could be alarm barking , alarm barking is a loud rhythmic sound, it is perfectly normal just means she wants to alert other chinchillas of a potential danger, they can get spooked quite easily. They can make a similar sound when they are hiccupping too this is also completely normal but unlike the alarm bark it's involuntary and it normally goes away on its own.

They are all doing well , had some new babies born a week ago,2 little violets. It's not been a crazily hot summer hear in the UK so that's a relief.

Cool, wish your family all the best! You are doing an amazing job Ally :) A lot of folks think that chins are cute and they are i mean ) but these are some real rare and very specific animals with special needs and lots of care to put in. @@AllysAnimalAntics

How can you spot malo when adopting a new chin? How is your bunny doing? Any new pets?

Its hard to spot malo but you can sometimes tell by feeling under their chin / jaw bone for abnormalities in the bone, they feel like lumps . This can indicate problems with the roots of the teeth. But you do kind of have to know what you are feeling for if that makes sense. Other visual signs are wetness around the eyes. Olly my rabbit is doing really well , she's 10 in years old on 30th August 🙂 We have had a couple of new baby chinchillas born but not sure if we are keeping them yet.

Omg! 10 years old! It’s 👍❤️ My bun is going to be 7 by the end of this year I’m not sure if I going to keep going with bunnies as they need a lot of house proofing and space , I might foster tho I will be getting 2 chins when I have less guinea pigs or my bunny is no longer here I’m a bit scared to get chins to be honest😊 I have had so many different health problems with guinea pigs and them passing so so I’m hoping that chins I get will be healthy

I got him in 2016 , he was already over a year old when we got him. He is 8 now , but hopefully will have many more years with him

My heart is breaking... How many germs can we give You over video? Or how many germs could You give us? I truly do understand what you are saying and maybe one day in the future I will do a face reveal. But I am just not ready for it yet. For now this is how I feel most comfortable being on camera. Its either this or voice over videos for the time being. Hope you enjoyed the video regardless.

@@AllysAnimalAntics Of course I enjoy & cherish Your true love of creatures especially chinnies!! 😍 I trained myself & learned lots of the things You know; some the hard way & some too late. 🥺 Though I was very blessed & both my Grrrls lived to 20 yrs old each. I totally understand what You are doing & why... 🤕 which is why I am reaching out to You with the same love & prayerfully encouragement & acceptance that You use when You reach out to Your fur babies. The beauty & perfection You see in them, regardless of age, emotional or physical condition is the beauty & perfection I see in You & Your heart!! I have felt much the same way You feel most of my life but I have begun to listen to the love & acceptance of ppl who truly care for me & am understanding that beauty & perfection are not physical traits but are contained in my character, intentions & actions toward others.
