Word! I'm from the island and everyone has their "definition" of what is to be Puerto Rican. "Do you know la panaderia down the street?" Me: "No" "Are you Puerto Rican?" Me: Yeah. I'm just not from this barrio bro.

You know you're Puerto Rican when... Burbujita sung you your lullaby. When your school milk came in a pouch. When you also ate an empanadilla and a frozen as a school lunch. When you got tired and/or guilty of overplayed trends (everything minions, Brito everything, Pandora bracelets, Honey and Sam stuffed toys with Rocher chocolates as valentine presents, gladiator sandals, etc) When you listened to the Payco jingle being blasted up and down your street everyday. When you sang along passionately to the Harris Paints commercial before the movie being played at the theatre. When Christmas comes to mind, you already picture being out till late at night singing to everyone at their homes all around the neighborhood "Dame la mano, paloma..." When you grew up sleeping in a mosquetero. When your best part of summer is when you get to eat quenepas. When you have mastered the art of dodging potholes. When touching moriviví can entertain you for hours. When you have a food coma after leaving Piñones or Guavate. When you wiggle your nose to say "what" and point with your lips. I can go on and on lol.

You know you're Puerto Rican when you go to several different relatives' houses, and they're all playing Elvis Crespo (any song), or Aventura (obsession). I can go from my Tita Carmen's house where she's playing Luna Llena, and be able to listen to/finish the song at my Tita Midgey's or Tio Manny's....which are on the other side of Perth Amboy, NJ!
