perfect ratios, snatched 100kg with a 160 back squat

Reached a 60 kg snatch with a less than shitty technique earlier this year, you would have cried if you saw it. Spent a few months on fixing my technique and trying to obtain a natural flow in the snatch such that I don´t have to think about how I do it, I just simply do it (and be able to repeat multiple lifts in the same manner). In the last two weeks, I've been touching this flow, resulting in euphoric 60 kg snatches, 57.5 kg triples and an almost 65 kg snatch, but my problem is the strength: My 5rm front squat is only 90 kg, while my 5rm back squat is 120 kg. Needless to say, I need to improve my strength significantly before I can reach 100kg. I love the journey though: I snatch 4 times a week and squat Rippetoe style every session, and I can really feel the improvements from one workout to the next. Thanks for this episode, this was exactly the motivation I needed after a terrible workout!

Cool to read the comments and see other 40+ year old late starters around. Been a bit bummed out after being off training to rest an injury (these niggles don't just go away like they did a decade ago!!!) and start to fall into the mindset of "maybe it's just not a good idea at this age"... but seeing other peoples' positivity in their own similar journeys is very motivating.

Appreciate this type of content. As an older gent (45) that got into this game pretty late, I feel that I missed my window. From my assessment, and based on percentages, it is a strength deficiency. Tried, R2A and dozens of their programs over the years. Nonetheless, headed down to the basement in a few hours to give it a go. That's life.

Commenting for the algo Great content, and presented well; 100kg is on every weightlifter's mind, and this is put together well enough that it could really save athletes a lot of time, heartache, and injuries. If anyone is considering Sika programs, go ahead and try them; they can be a bit tough at times, but they have had good results for me and the feedback on the FB group is great to give me something to focus on for the next week of the program.

Klokov wearing turtles shirt was the highlight of the video for me. My plan was to practice weightlifting and increase strength at the pace it would happen, but I got the great idea of getting back to judo and now I can't do weightlifting at all or I'm too beaten up to do either. But at least I'm growing a lot of muscle and some strength anyway. We'll see in some weeks, months or years how the original plan will pan out. I might be too old to hit that 100 kg by then, but your content hopefully guides me to my best performance eventually.

A video I need for extra motivation. Current PR is 90kg but I can and have put more than that over my head but misses the lifts because coach says I need to make slight adjustments in my technique and timing everytime I try a new weight but he's confident I can hit 100kg by end of the year if not earlier if I keep on dialing those issues in. Strength isn't my issue, consistency in technique at the higher weights and new weights is so I'm hoping I can focus and hit this milestone soon

Man that's impressive. Sitting at a 177 bs, 150 fs, and I'm only at a 90 snatch. Your ratios are great! Been training the lifts for four years now, about 3 in a crossfit setting and 8 months in an olympic lifting gym to unlearn some of my bad habits haha
@adamjones7891
@adamjones7891 Жыл бұрын
I think an interesting topic to talk about is the common habits from someone coming from crossfit into weightlifting (myself included) because of the nature of how crossfit workouts are programmed. It seems like one of the most common backgrounds people come into weightlifting with. This isn't me saying the sport is bad it's just the approach to, for example, snatching for reps right after doing some quad fatiguing movement is probably different than a 1rm build. For example I myself had (and still do occasionally) a big problem of sitting into my heels so much so that my toes would lift off the ground almost immediately during my pull because i was used to my quads being fatigued. I also still overdo arm bend due to a lack of extension at the end of my pull and need to keep working on that.

Been into (amateur/hobby) weightlifting for a few months now. My God this sport is addictive. I improved my mobility a lot + gained some kilos on the front/back squats as well as some muscles on my back. My current snatch pr is 70kilos at 71kg/bw. Been working on my technique ever since I met Angel Genchev (oldschool bulgarian weightlifter and the heaviest man to ever lift 3x his bw 202.5kg at 67.5 bw). Luckily he said that my technique is pretty okay for a youtube-tutorials-pupil lol but I had some things (obviously) to fix. Really important thing is to NOT sacrifice technique and risk injuries because of ego or a rush to get the 100kg milestone. I also watched some of coach Ivan Abadzhiev's interviews and stopped doing exercises like the classical deadlifts since it contradicts with the movement of the snatch/cnj according to his knowledge and experience.
