Happy Holidays!
I recorded this song yesterday right before my family and I drove out to some farmland to see the "Christmas Star!" The last time it was seen was 800 years ago... isn't that amazing!

"Silent Night" (German: "Stille Nacht, heilige Nacht") is a popular Christmas carol, composed in 1818 by Franz Xaver Gruber to lyrics by Joseph Mohr in the small town of Oberndorf bei Salzburg, Austria.

My favorite Christmas carol. When my husband was stationed in Germany, we went to Austria on Christmas Eve to hear the carol played by guitar in the small church were it was first played. This is the first version I've heard that comes close to the beauty of that one . . . course there's no snow falling here in Florida as I listen to this, but ya can't have everything, eh?!

This performance is so peaceful I'm tearing up. Feels as if I was a kid again walking down our street seeing all the Christmas lights and the carollers, feeling the happiness in the air, the Christmas spirit. Felt so long since I last felt that feeling so thank you.

There's just something about a piano when you can hear the pedal action. Maybe I'm silly, but it just feels like being home at my childhood instrument. That's a special kind of nostalgia in 2020.

Yep. My son and I saw the double star last night. It actually happened about 400 years ago too, but that event was in daytime so it couldn't be seen like this one. The Jupiter and Saturn conjunction was quite amazing. Really cool it happened on the winter solstice and just days before Christmas. I rolled out my 11" Schmidt-cassegrain scope out of the garage for the wife, kids and grandkids to have a peek. The great-grandkids are still too small to appreciate the scope. Getting too old to handle that beast of a scope. The only thing that would have made the night better was to have been playing this song while we looked at the stars. Thank you for you being you and I thank the Lord for giving you such a wonderful voice and the skill to use your instrument so well. Mele Kalikimaka!
