Күн бұрын

This video is part one of two featuring the design and construction of a runied farmhouse for the tabletop game #TheSilverBayonet a game of Napoleonic Gothic Horror. This is a commission build and was won by one of my patrons in the December 2021 competition. If you would like a chance to win a Magrathea Builder Of Worlds model than join my Patreon at
patreon.com/magratheabuilderofworlds
This is a 28mm model made mainly from #XPSFoam and #BalsaWood
It is a versatile design which could be used for many tabletop games from #Mordheim to #VBCW from #BoltAction to #Malifaux it would also make an excellent location for players of RPGs like #DnD #5thEdition
Make sure you like and subscribe and watch out for Part Two which is coming very soon.

I'm late, but had to drop in and tell you all.. play silver bayonet, its a blast and easy to pick up. After a couple of games you find yourself familiar enough to start the fun of telling your own stories. Its kind of evocative to be as grim (or silly) as you like, the scenarios supplied can be placed in the theatre you like most. It just starts pulling stories out of the players, well it did in our group at least. After battling the stirring dark forces in the hills beyond ragusa, we are currently fighting our way across the alps in a anachronistic suvorovs march across the swiss mountains (in a kind of prelude to the rise of napoleonic mayhem). We surely visit the peninsular campaign and probably haiti too. Or to put it short, you can go crazy with anything including fancy uniforms and muskets, the rules are as flexible as you are.

Looking good, Tim. Liking the central fireplace. Looking forward to seeing the finished piece. Standard MDF is called "MDF". Glossy one side, sorta patterned on the back, is generally called by the brand name, "Masonite". A brand of concrete infused boards, of 2 varieties, underlayment and exterior siding, are both called by their brand name, "Hardie Board". All that said, if I say "hard board", it's a coin toss as to whether the listener interprets that as "Masonite" or "MDF". Oddly, while "HDF" is common enough, almost nobody outside the trades knows anything other than "MDF"

They are a fun set and you can easily use your Napoleonic Skirmish figures. I also play Dracula's America, so have lots of nasty things for my guys to face! In my opinion, great, fun set of rules!

Googlefu defines Hardboard thus: "Hardboard, also called high-density fiberboard (HDF), is a type of fiberboard...."
@RedHandedDaniel
@RedHandedDaniel 2 жыл бұрын
We call that Hardboard or Masonite in the US. There is a softer thinner board we call chip board that's just a thick cardstock. What you call chip board, we call particle board.

From the US here. Have heard it called chipboard, particleboard and hardboard all pretty commonly. I think they are all forms of chipboard just compressed to different densities though.

Ha for a moment there I thought you said "the shit out the back garden" and not "the shed out the back garden. Gave me a chuckle thanks for the laugh! The build looks good so far. I am intrigued by this game but have to resist the temptation. I am on a crusade to vanquish the pile of shame. I am down to Abaddon the Despoiler, a box of Chaos Space Marine Terminators that I am saving for a long term project where I paint them to a high standard and base to a high standard. Got a few hundred 15mm miniatures to paint and my mountain of shame is no more! Then I will look at other miniature games hah.

Hardboard from the Uk I think is called chipboard in the USA. Where we also have something else called chipboard as well which isn’t hardboard!! So not confusing at all. 😂😂

What you're calling "hardboard" we call "Masonite." Masonite is a brand name, but "hardboard" is the only one of their products that I've ever heard called "Masonite." I've also heard it called chipboard. More technically, we would also call it "MDF," though when we talk about MDF in a crafting context, a slightly different cabinetry board is usually what comes to mind first.
