I don't think it's a cool undertone, I think it's soft warm. Me and my friend have very similar hair colour although mine is much more ashier and hers is yellow reddish. In the roots our hair is pretty much the same but as you go down you can see that difference.

I once just wanted a few dead ends cur off,hair dresser took off half my hair. I went and cried 😂

My stylist cuts my hair dry and unstyled, that seems like the best method for longer hair to maintain the most realistic cut length without drying issues.

That's usually a sign your hair is about to start splitting if it's mostly straight.

Girl dont do it! Seems fun until you realize that 65% of the time with dyed hair is when it’s on the faded and washed out side, and the texture of your hair gets straw like over time. Just wear wigs if you want fun color! Personally, I do different braids with my hair for interest.

@@yeahnomilk exactly! it’s “just hair” but I still feel like it’s a bit toxic for stylists and girls who’ve been dyeing since middle school to cheerlead on virgin hair to get bleached when they know at least part of them wishes they’d left it alone but they’ve gone too far now!

white hair gets yellowed from the chemicals in tap water and the copper pipes ; I would guess the hair dresser would need to neutralize the bronzing, yellow...?

​@@jray5907 Not necessarily. I had virgin hair until recently but my hair came out extremely yellow, even after toning. People love to shit on stylists for this kinda thing but sometimes hair just doesn't wanna cooperate and can take up to 3 rounds of bleach and tone to get even remotely close to how you want.

@@danielhubley3335 Maybe they didn't want to process black hair twice and waste their whole day on one person and probably severely damage the hair. Or the price was a set amount so they weren't going to do twice the work and twice the product.

@@Jayelsea It is if the price is set, it is also a waste of a whole day and the person time as it's an extremely long exhausting process is what I'm saying. The hair dresser may not want to be there 10 hours doing one person with a high risk of damage and them being mad at the end anyways after all that work. These aren't hard concepts to grasp.

They won’t leave you orange! They’ll just tone it and it will be a dark blonde till they lighten it again

Sometimes they do leave people orange or yellow, I do color professionally and about half my clients are coming to me to correct someone else’s work leaving them orange or brassy yellow lol. It’s business for me but it’s not fair they have to come to me to get it fixed in the first place

Shadow roots are a blended gradient though, it’s definitely a different effect than just grown out roots. It helps you not have to color as often imo because it blends more smoothly and isn’t a harsh transition like having roots can be if your hair is much different than the dyed shade. I personally like the look of a shadow root because usually peoples roots are a bit darker naturally anyway. Plus I feel like sometimes when it’s super light on top it can kinda make you look bald because your scalp kinda blends in with the color of the hair, if that makes sense.

Yeah undertones are very real. Some people can go platinum/silver easily because they have cool undertones. Others lift very warm/yellow. I also lift yellow as heck 😅

I had the same thing happen to me! My hair is naturally salt and pepper because of my age. I wanted to go silver all over with a shadow root. They totally fucked it up!!! I am still livid because my hair is blotchy with blonde, gray, orange and salt and pepper. The bitch manager refused to give me a refund so I'll be taking them to court soon.
