Finally upgrading the front brakes on the truck. Using parts from a 2019-2020 silverado/sierra. Pretty east except for the part where you have to center the new caliper.
Subscribe, like, comment some shit. I’m planning on recording every time one of cars break or if I plan on modifying them somehow. Will also post updates and future projects here. Currently own a s14, 350z, silverado, and a FD.
You are messing with your brake system so if you don’t know what you are doing take it to a professional. I’m not responsible if you hurt yourself or others. I’m not responsible if you damage your vehicle or any other property. When you work on your vehicle it’s AT YOUR OWN RISK
I’m not some certified master ASE mechanic. I just like working on my cars. Always do your own research before working on your vehicle. If you have the caliper on the wrong side and the bleeder screw is on the bottom, it can not be bled properly. If you get done with the job and your pedal is noticeably spongy, that means it still isn't bled completely. I'm currently looking into see if this upgrade can be done on a 2008 model. It may require slightly different Hardware. But I do like this upgrade. The torque spec on those caliper bolts is 120 ft lb. I believe on the banjo bolt it's about 20 to 25 ft pounds. And you are supposed to use new copper washers each time, but if you're very careful you might be able to skate by with using them one extra time.

I was able to bleed it properly and thanks for the torque specs. My truck is sold now and I never had issues with it since I installed these calipers

Biggest problem is the factory wheels hit the new calipers so now you will need 1/2” spacers and longer wheel studs. Note easy to find. You will need an old stud to measure to find a new set.

Depends which wheels because wouldn’t the stock wheels of the 2020 trucks clear since that’s what they came with

I did this upgrade about two years ago. FYI If you have a set of 17" Vision legend 6 like me those brakes will actually fit with a decent amount of clearance between the inner rim and caliper to my surprise.

For the washer required to shim the caliper I would start with 1/8 or 0.125 THICK and see how it looks on your truck. That seems to be the size that came up a lot when I did my research. Currently on eBay as of 8/15/22 www.ebay.com/itm/334502377762?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=Yl6wBEtQT_S&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=Qix07Az6Sie&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY

Prices today are much higher if you can find them, also it should be mentioned that the stock rims will not fit these calipers. Factory stock 16” and 17” will not work, probably 18s might but I’m looking for 20” rims which are hard to find in junk yards so this upgrade will probably be over $2,000 if you include new rims and tires.

Pretty cool. I want to do this. do you know if they'll fit under the 2018+ steel wheels. they are 17x8 they came on the base trucks.

Possibly I think the smallest wheel size a stock 2020 runs is 17x8. It would just depend on the offset of your wheels to clear the caliper and I don’t know about that part

@@ZackNakazora1 they look small in pictures but I mean 2020 trucks have 17s I believe. I would test fit your wheel on a friends 2020 and see if it clears fastest way to check I think
