There had been tension between Shabani and Kiyomasa until the other day, but on this day that tension seemed to have eased somewhat.
However, Shabani seemed irritated with Kiyomasa.
Kiyomasa's mother, Nene, tried hard to stop Shabani.
After a while, Shabani calmed down and finally made up with Kiyomasa, but then the two had another tiff.
But the tension that existed between them seemed to be gone.

Nene was born wild in Cameroon.
The other three were born in the Higashiyama Zoo in Japan.

there are very noticeable scents and behaviors male gorillas exhibit when they need to mate a female [any female if their choice is limited] shabani can perhaps sense and or smell kyio is at this point, shabani may be at this same point too . ,its nature..so he is very protective of HIS HAREM ,silverbacks do not tolerate another silverback in his troop usually,in the wild son or not they will drive them out when they become a challenge. not any fault of shabani or kiyo ...zookeepers need to give kiyo what he deserves by his birth right as a great ape,shabani too deserves this..PLEASE FIND A PLACE FOR KIYO TO LIVE AS A SILVERBACK in a bachelor group or his own harem w females. HE IS GROWING INTO AN ADULT thank you for your great channel!

And 3 years from now Kiyo will be just as big as Shabani turning these small fights into life & death situations The zoo needs to act quickly

Hahaha 😆 I really hope Ai starts accepting his advances. I always feel bad when she rejects him. I wonder if maybe they can try to slowly introduce a new female? I wish Ai was like Tayari. I've never seen a female gorilla so affectionate and in love with their mate like Tay is. I feel like Shabani would love that kind of reciprocation and attention. Gah, this zoo frustrates me so much.

This isn't about love. And this isn't a quarrel that will start and stop . This is normal and it will continue to go on until kyomasa is separated from the group. Putting out titles like, shabani and kyomasa have made up, or the fight is over, is just ridiculous. This is just a natural process that humans are screwing up by keeping kyomasa here. Why do so many zoo's wait until things get violent before they decide to do something.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was all about the money. This family is quite popular, which brings in hundreds of people, and I can just imagine how expensive a ticket most likely is. It's a damn shame.

@@pigtailsandteddybears that plays a huge part but the reality is they don't know what to do with him once he's out because they never planned ahead The US has zoos working together so it's much easier to move gorillas around to other groups but Japan doesn't have that many gorilla troops Kiyo would have to be by himself until a new group is found but that's also not a good solution since gorillas are very social animals All that said the zoo will unfirtunately keep him with Shabani until there's a serious injury

Because they don’t have any plans. Who would bring 2 male full blood brothers gorillas to Japan a small country? Therefore Shabani and koayo troops can’t mate.

No, usually it’s who is closest going in first…I think that Kiyomasa, at his age, is fearing Shabani less, but respecting him more…Kiyomasa is a year younger than Gentaro, son of Momotaro, but he is now beginning that adolescent posturing that Gentaro has been doing…
