Great video. I used to put in systems in high school so I know how easy it is. I hope to put in my own system in the future.

You're the man SC. Just saved me 75 bucks. I live in Acushnet, MA. If you're out on the town at all in MA, wear a SC shirt so I know to buy you at least a couple rounds!

Tre W make sure you open up that valve going to the ground on your back flow very easily turning it on quickly like he did can cause breaks in your main line and that’s very expensive this guys video has a few wrong details
@andreareddorkinghood13713 жыл бұрын
You really should take the time to explain to people that they need to go outside FIRST and make sure the valves are closed, since most places winterize them by placing them at 45-degree angles. If someone doesn't know to check that first and just follows your video they will screw up their system and probably have some costly repairs that need to be made.

I don't mind paying the pros I just can't get them to come out! Called them yesterday and they said the earliest they could come out is July! LOL. Looks like I will be doing this myself. Thanks for the video. Would have been good to see how the zones are turned on at the box. (if they were turned off last winter)

Hunter Sprinkler System Acting up Changed all valve diaphragms (new from HomeDepot) and solenoids (new from HomeDepot and all in closed position) Tried switching wires from back and front lawn zones at controller and results as follows: 1. Front lawn zone works perfect, no leak at pressure vacuum breaker and starts quick 2. Back lawn zone starts late and pressure vacuum breaker leaks during spray (even after changing wires at controller) After getting information as amateur, there is leak in back yard and i have changed two heads which originally did not come out and spray was minimal. Despite that back lawn still starts late and vacuum breaker still leaks during duration of spray. Maximum duration i manually set for 20 minutes for back lawn, still the same (starts late and vacuum breaker still leaks). You being professional have knowledge and would you please help me in fixing back lawn zone.

Thanks for another great vid. I have a simple two zone system. Bought my house 3 years ago. My sprinkler guy went MIA, so when spring hit I just turned the main water line on to the sprinklers and the sprinkler system wouldn't stop shooting water out. I didn't turn on the zones but water kept shooting out. I just turned the main water valve to the system off and just didn't use it all summer. I know I didn't take the right steps but why would the water just keep flowing like that without the zones being on? Thanks for ur great channel.

There's a leak in the mainline inbetween your valves and the backflow.. should be easy to fix.

Those are Hunter I-20 rotors. They are very good head that you have.
@SilverCymbal4 жыл бұрын
Yes, many of them are no over 20 years old which is pretty incredible when you consider our winters. Most of them that have failed are due to me hitting them, mowing damage, etc. PGP and I-20s are good stuff.

After I open my house water and the outside valves it keeps pouring out of the backflow hardware. Any idea what could be causing this?
@andreareddorkinghood13713 жыл бұрын
His valves were completely closed before he turned the water on. From my experience, and what we do here in Michigan, we close all of the valves at a 45 degree angle for the winter in case there is any water it can drip out. So you most likely had that happen on yours, and then if you followed his video you probably just flipped on the inside water right out of the gate, which will muck everything up. He should have mentioned that the very first step before you turn the water on is to make sure all of your valves are closed!

Please help. What irrigation timer model# has on/off time settings but has no limitation or duration on water flow time?

I watched many vidoes on this subject and I believe it is a mistake to first turn the water on before checking outside the settings....

This video is different from what the sprinkler companies recommend. They start on the outside of the house and then go inside to turn the water on.
@SilverCymbal5 жыл бұрын
Interesting, not much they can do outside without the water on.
@matthewrobinsonrobinson12005 жыл бұрын
Well you make sure your back flow is shut off first so you don’t send water back in your house 😶😶😶😂😂😂
@andreareddorkinghood13713 жыл бұрын
@@SilverCymbal it's because most companies winterize by turning the valves to a 45 degree angle. So most companies/videos explain that you need to go outside and completely close them shut before you go straight to the basement and turn the water on.

You said you would add tape and tighten up the plug when you open them, was it already tightened?
@SilverCymbal5 жыл бұрын
I actually didn't this year and suspect that there was tape residue on the plug. It's always a good idea to use tape and would never cause any harm.
