This type of marketing must really work. A quick search showed that at least 58 different KZfaq channels have posted commercials like this in the past 2 days alone, it's probably way more but I stopped counting. Must be costing them a fortune, which means that they must be making crazy money in return to justify the expense. Some of those videos have just a couple dozen views though, makes me wonder how hard it would be to have stuff like this sent to me to "review"? 😂

Having dealt with devices abandoned by the manufacturer and not supported by the app any more, I don't consider apps and firmware updates to be desirable. I would hate to have the vendor "brick" the device with a bad firmware update or just because they think it's reached "end of life". Otherwise, it looks like a nice unit.

If I ever hit the lottery, I'm gonna end up with a whole Ecoflow ecosystem. They continue to make a bunch of awesome products that I simply don't have the disposable income to justify impulse buying, but I'm trying to budget in buying them over the coming years. This one may have jumped to the top of the list. Batteries and generators are nice, but staying cool on the go? Not having to idle your car to keep cool when stuck somewhere? Also A/C for my tent when I camp? Cooling down the attic even just a little bit while I'm in there? The use cases for this thing don't end. Damn near gonna talk to my dad about this and be like "but it's also a space heater. Lets go half and half. Mom will love it."
@Torqu3d

It's only $1000, most common market window units will cost you that and aren't portable. Should be easy to swing your dad on that deal.

@@Torqu3d Most window AC units of that size will set you back only couple hundred bucks. Granted, you don't even get a remote control with some but they are about as large and one could run it off of a power station battery like Ecoflow. Also, if you want heat most of us in North America have central heating anyway. I've never really been a big fan of large Lithium batteries and even the small ones make me overly cautious.

Thanks for the in-depth video on the Wave 2, I came here looking for more info on it after having already purchased it. I agree with most observations you've made. Mine arrived yesterday, and installed onto a very non-AC friendly window (casement window with steel bars on the window sill side), which required the whole large window being blocked out. Very light weight and easy to handle compared to the large, 12000+ BTU window AC unit I installed into a sliding door for the main living area (also less than half the price). Made a weird screeching noise from within the machine though, which lasted for hours, slowly fading away. Been running for more than 16 hours now, no more weird screeching noise. Bought early bird coupon for extra discount, and early bird unit, with no battery, as I just needed a compact AC for a small room with very limited space. Definitely expensive, but my options were very limited, so I'm glad a product at least exists which fits my needs. Hopefully it lasts a long time...

A 1500 watt electric heater puts out 5,000 BTUs of heat. If this does 6,000 BTUs of heat while using 600 watts it's about 3 times more efficient. Not too bad, but remember a cheap electric heater may only cost $40 or so to buy. This definitely won't save you any money, but if you are living off the grid, solar with batteries for example, the reduced energy usage could make a huge difference.

I noticed in the ads they don't show the exhaust ducts. Like any AC the hot air coming out has to have somewhere to go, if not there will be as much hot air coming out the back as there is cold air coming out the front.
@PaulRKeeble

Its very similar to most of the portable Air conditioners but the clippable ducts working on the output is the magic feature. The main problem with Air conditioners is that 40-60Dba noise is indoors and compared to an external heat pump conditioner unit they are very noisy. However these ducts mean with an extension cord (or the battery/solar) you can put it outside and duct the air in putting the noisy part on the outside for ground floor rooms. Its very expensive compared to portable AC at the moment although similar to the dual hose portable AC units.

the biggest annoyance with any portable AC unit such as this one or window or ones on wheels is those hoses and sticking them out the window. they innovated on this entire product but couldnt make an easy to use thing to attach the hoses and stick it it in the window to provide an actual seal? just a foam block and im expected to duct tape the rest together. those accordion ones that come with other units are crap, the hoses are always so stiff and make it a pain to route.

Do you need to have the intake hose and outtake hose attached outside to exchange air as a manufacturer requirement or as an personal option only if the outside air is cooler and you want fresher air or whatever other reason. Can you have it exhausted only the warm air and take in the inside air so only one exhaust pipe outside? Sorry just trying to understand how this works. For example in a sail boat air would be cooler on the inside potentially due to it being under water so it would make sense just to exhaust the hot air and take in the air from the inside of the boat so it recirculates and cools air better if I understand this well enough. The fresh air would find its way in through the voids and opening so we would only need to make space for one exhaust? Or is this some type of safety or operating requirement how these units function. Thanks 🙏

Portable air conditioners are notoriously-inefficient. The compressor is indoors which generates heat. The condenser-discharge air is also inside, and hot, causing thermal heat gain through those hoses. They’re just not great. A traditional window unit is way better. Source: NATE-certified AC tech

So the big front is the evaporator intake. A the adjustable one is the cool or hot output. So both big grills are sucking in. A the other two or blowing out.

The Mr Cools are amazing for sure. Since its putting out 5100btu in cooling mode you could do a 1 car, but it depends. If you have a lot of windows or pulling in a hot vehicle, it wont be nearly enough. I would say a 10x10 typical room would be ok for this. Before my Mr Cool I used a 5000btu window air conditioner for a 2 car garage with hot cars, it wasn;t great but it absolutely took the humidity out and brought the temp down much better. Well I finally received my Wave 2 and I’m not very happy. First it was several days late due to a label was mis-labeled. Then when it arrived I gave it several hours to climatize before starting. Reading the manual while waiting. I unboxed the unit along with extra battery, put battery on and tried to plug power cord into unit to charge completely but Every time I went to plug the power cord into the receptacle it would blow and then I would reset it… This went on for several minutes without the power cord keeping set. So my power cord is defective. Next I try to turn on the extra battery… It powers right up- wonderful - 2 bars of power so I push the main power button on the top of the unit… NOTHING… D.O.A. - Dead on arrival- $1,500 early bird special. Equals a huge paperweight. And I bet I’m going to get a hassle on a return or replacement or even my freaking money back. I just wanted the product to work for me-

I would contact them, they aren't going to give you a hard time, just tell them what happened and they will get it replaced. My experience and this unit have been amazing but I understand if you are upset and just want to return it, but the moment there is nothing else like this one in the world so it may be worth letting them get you a working one.

As a heater it's amazing, uses around 600 watts but you are getting the heat output of around 7 portables heaters that would use 8000 watts. As an AC compressors cycle oin an off, in maximum mode its around 550 watts. Battery can last overnight for AC if you choose that option.

That is just not true. It's got a Pansonic compressor and it cranks. Try the same tests I did with a Zero Breeze or any other model, they don't heat either and see what the results are. I will stand by everything I said and showed in this video. They did an amazing job with this one. My favorites are Mr Cool for built in. Drew for a traditional room portable, and the Ecoflow for ultraportable with heat.

9.6 hours of use, times 600w means the battery would be almost 6kw/h and it's way too small for that. There's no way that thing runs for 9 hours.
@SilverCymbal
@SilverCymbal Жыл бұрын
You are forgetting one thing, compressors don't typical run 100% of the time, they cycle on and off. Yes if its 130 degrees at night it would but eventually the area is cooled, it goes off and on and the power usage will vary. If it doesn't perform t wat they say return it, but so far they have been decent about their specs being accurate.

@@SilverCymbal come on man.... I undertsand the sponsoring but come on... The whole point of having it portable, is to use it in a tent, rv or a space without pre-existing air conditionning. Meaning that thing with only 5000btu will run at full blast and die wayyyy before the compressor cycles.
@SilverCymbal

@@ProbeGT2 I dont care about the sponsoring at all, I have no requirements or fake stuff I need to keep a facade for. I told Bluetti to f*off years ago when they wanted their fake video, and offered me cash to remove a negative video. What you see is what you get with me. We know they have advertised 9.6 hours and if it only does 2 then it's a major issue and will come up quickly from owners. There is no way for me to test it, whats fair, 80 degrees out, 100, what humidity level, etc. I get asked this question all the time about refrigerators and runtime on battery generators and it's the same. They cycle off and on as needed. You make it like 5000 btu is low. I ran a 5000btu window air conditioner in a single car garage for years and it did a pretty good job, thats a garage. For small spaces, boats, tiny houses, etc. This will easily cool or heat it. 3 years ago people said the Delta would explode from its fast charging because it went against what we all though, 3 years later its still a champion. Buy it or don't buy it, but I don't think they are advertising blatant lie, lets see what buyers experience in the real world as they sell.

It's got twice the output of anything else close to it, so if you want cooling or heat it's pretty amazing. But air flow and condensation are all byproducts of cooling and heating, there isn't a way to avoid that unless you use it outside and only for directed cool air like tent, boat etc then you can skip them all.

There's something about heat pumps that just doesn't pass the sniff test. It consumed 600W but puts out the heat equivalent of 8000W (7 portable heaters, as you say). So this unit is roughly 7x more efficient than electric heat. Why is not the entire world using heat pumps? Why do electric heaters even still exist? It's like George Costanza who "discovered Kryptonite by accident". It can't be about the high price, because with such efficiency all HVAC manufacturers would be rushing to make these. It would be like the cavity magnetron in WW2 - orders of magnitude more powerful than the predecessor so there was a mad land rush to manufacturer them to the exclusion of its predecessor. I'm not doubting the unit, I'm just expressing my ignorance on the topic. It would make an interesting video for you to do an apples-to-apples comparison between electric heat, standard AC, gas heat, and heat pumps, comparing energy in vs energy out in the same units.

It gets terrible reviews.. A revolution in DC HVAC is so overdue. I suspect Solid State batteries are going to be a game changer for off grid. I'm in hot and humid Central florida but out in the sticks and under the trees most nights even in the summer gets down to a comfortable low 70s for a fan only setup. My soil is white sugar sand that is very easy to dig, and when you dig 4 feet the earth is very cool even in August. I'm working on a Therma cooling idea where I'm trying to cool a 9x11 heavily insulated shack under the trees using the largest single solar panel I can find. In a perfect world I would be able to cool the shack with only a single 500 watt solar panel and something like that Ecoflow, but that would mean the efficiency of that AC would have be twice as good as it is. Looking forward I am also anticipate that EV vans of 2027 and later will have batteries that not only can go 800 miles on 15 minutes of charge, but also run HVAC for 5 days while parked!! These milestones are going to change off grid and van life forever and for everyone!!!!
