David of DR Jewellery & Design videos some of his manufacturing processes in the world of hand made jewellery. Hand made / hand fabricated / hand forged jewellery is becoming a lost art form and David would like to share some of his knowledge.
In this video I will make a stamped bangle bracelet out of sterling silver using hand made stamps. The processes that I will use are as follows: marking out, stamping, cutting and filing, soldering, filing solder, sanding, polishing and applying liver of sulphur.
I really love how this bracelet turned out in this Jewellery tutorial. It has such an old world & Navajo style look to it. I made all my stamps as per an old document that I found that contained a lot of old stamp designs. I fount that during my initial layout of stamps that the bangle Bracelet needed more detail in it, not the most efficient use of time when stamping, it is better to do all the stamping when it is laying flat on the steel block. I also decided to include video footage of the Darkening the the metal / Patina stage using Liver of Sulphur - I hope that you find this useful. I've been experimenting with a few different video formats so please let me know in the comments if you have any feedback for me. In this video I did all of the talking at my workbench and did not do any voice overs, if you found this to be confusing, please let me know and I can switch things up to make my videos better.
