"Before The Departure" captures the mid train helper train being put together and the departure before the sun peaked over the mountains. I Chased and Paced this Rio Grande lettered, Durango and Silverton Fall Photo Special until they tie up in Silverton for the night. This Silverton Mixed with a rare mid train helper excursion commemorated the K-28 locomotives 100-years of service.
The #473's engineer was Jon Cox and Joe Dailey fired. The #476"s engineer was Kylah Breeden and Nick Breeden fired leaving Durango. Dylan Rogers, Russell Heerdt, Nick Battelo and Kyle Danielson were conductors and brakemen.

Part 1 includes the 7:05 AM (dark) departure from Durango, with locomotives #473 and #476. I capture the sound of the 32nd Street crossing with the sights and sounds from the 36th Street crossing, pacing through the valley and the stop for water at Hermosa.
Part 2 includes the Hermosa water stop, Hermosa departure, Shalona Lake crossing and Rockwood.
The "Arrival" captures the arrival from Kendall Mountain in Silverton.
"Turning The Mix" shows how this mid train helper train is split up to turn the train around.
"Spot and Tie Up" shows the final moves, spotting the passenger and freight cars and servicing the locomotives for the morning departure.
