BeamNG Drive. Not really racing oriented but some of the most realistic vehicle handling physics I've seen. EDIT: I'm starting to wonder if all the people responding "the handling is nothing like real life" have ever actually driven a real car. Also, I'm still getting responses a year later

The handling is not realistic at all, the cars are too slidy, the destruction is the good part. I hate it when people say driving physics are good in Beam because they really aren't

I mean, real racing teams probably spend 7 figures + on their simulators. But for home use I'd expect not much over $30-$40k considering the most expensive motion rigs are only about $25-$30k

@@1984kylea that makes more sense thanks to both of you. Im new to sim. So im still ignorant on the subject. I got a G29 new for $200 a month ago and a Next Level Racing simple stand. It was for GT sport on PS4 but I can't change fov. So I moved to my PC and got AC but my monitor is only 24" 1440p so the fov is super claustrophobic even when I put it right behind the wheel. Anyway Sorry for rant. Thx again

yes but the expensive part of doing it in real life isn't the car itself, it's tires, maintenance, track time, replacing broken parts(absolutely unavoidable), gas, injuries in case of a crash wich is very common specially starting, fines and legal backlash if you want to do it in the streets, risk of injuring or killing other people, risk of injuring or killing yourself, damage to property, and the list goes on and on, if i could drive in real life like i do on forza everyday for 100k god knows i would pay it and never get off my car ever again

DiRT 4 is more arcade than sim with it's physics. If you want a more realistic rally/rallyx experience, then DiRT Rally is the way to go.

DIrt 4 is a huge step up from Dirt 3, but I do agree it's not quite to the same level as Dirt Rally 1 and 2 and there's people who will argue neither of those are as good as Richard Burns Rally with NGP mods. I personally love the Dirt Rally games because of the total immersive package of better graphics and sound design to go with the physics, but RBR is still a great game to keep installed on a sim-racers hard drive (especially if you have a VR headset).

TheShadowSplicer For stage rally on loose surfaces, I agree, but I'm rallycross or any tarmac driving, dirt 4 handles much better. The cars in dirt rally never handle well on tarmac, even though Monaco stages are arguable the most fun :P

It was included because of the Rally Cross mode. You can turn all the assists off in Dirt 4, making it essentially the same as Rally.

It's closer to a sim anyway. The handling is definitely different between the two games. I actually like some things about 4 better, after playing it a while.

I’m a pro racecar driver and it’s true when he says iracing is insane. I use it to train everyday and it’s help me keep noticeably sharp and more on the edge. It’s truly not a joke.

One time I ran a 15 minute stage in Richard Burns Rally, and around minute seven, I had a hard hit, causing me to lose my brakes. Finishing that stage without any brakes is still one of the favorite achievements I've had in any Sim!

Forza developers really need to wake up and turn Motorsport into a much more serious sim (based on it's current state). They have Horizon to appeal to car fans and they should use motorsport to appeal to its motorsport fans. Grand Turismo is only to going to get even better with the next iteration as well.

I play Assetto Corsa cause of the modding abilities and the Touges, and the 3-wheel pile up was such a good way to describe it. I absolutely could not stop laughing, I love the choice of clip.

mustangcallum studios because you need to have the right speed.. if u play with a controller ur gonna lock the wheels because of the sudden direction change that makes you go straight. Get good controller setup and be gentle with the wheel and the car will turn :)

Gran Turismo 4 added auto save which i felt kind of ruined it a little for me. In 3 I could buy a car, max it out and if I didnt like it I could reset the ps2 and try a different car out. That feature saved me a lot of expensive mistakes.

@@jeffreymiller3295 You can actually disable the autosave in GT4. All you need to do is go to the Options, select Misc in Miscellaneous category, go to Autosave, select Restricted, then OK.

GUMBA The handling gets better once you realize it doesn't have a high speed steering lock-out. Aka going 150mph and want to turn? The game will put them at the max turn as if you were parking. So you end up plowing forward like crazy. The answer is to steering less and that end up actually turning. But there are definitely improvements to be made.

Zecrid You can actually turn on an option which reduces steering at high speeds, but the problem with it now is that if you ever lose control of the car at high speed you just cant recover because the steering is still limited to 10%

Im personally a die hard Forza fan with all of the games under the sun atm. Played GT5/6 also and debating on a ps4 pro for Sport (probably pick up a G29 while im at it. GTR2/LFS. NFS Shift series (yes it sim-arcade-ish). rFactor1 back in the day. All racing games have their pros and cons. Its best to treat them equally imho. Staying narrow minded wont get far in life. Definitely learned the hard way of that.

i prefer GT over Forza because i grew up with Sony consoles and all GT games on all of them, my favorite racing game being GT4 i think, haven't played Forza but i would love to try FM and FH, not a fanboy, i just love racing games in general, arcade, sims or in-between, but like everyone i have my preferences, funny thing is, i actually prefer rFactor 1 because of how fun that game is with the shit ton of mods it has, i don't usually play online to not say i never do, but just doing timetrails or roaming alone on a track is a hell of a blast for me

Kyle Novak I wouldn’t say forza is bad with a wheel. When I got mine, ya there was a learning curve that I’m still getting used to, but overall it improves the experience for me.

Asseto Corsa, iRacing, ProjectCars2, RFactor2, Dirt Rally, Automobilista, RaceRoom Racing Experience, GTR2, Richard Burns Rally, Live for Speed. Those are sims. GT sport is a great game but not a sim, same goes for Forza. Dirt 4 is a shit game and also not a sim.

As much as I like forza and gtsport I agree they are both simcades. Not sure why dirt 4 is even there. I like asseto corsa but rfactor is my go to sim

@@owenrivard8832 depends on what you want. PCARS 2 is the best racing sim with changing weather, day/night shifts, a fun campaign mode and competent AI. Assetto Corsa is the best driving sim with a ffb and physics model unmatched on console. Ffb on pcars 2 is a bit hit and miss imho. There is some amazing racing to be had in Assetto Corsa in league play. PCARs 2 MP is a bit better due to rating system but at least on pc, outside of league racing mp is dead.

yeah, so what? at least they are in the game. Just do with what you can and plan out your garage, thats what I do. No more just collecting cars just to collect them. To me it keeps things interesting by limiting the amount of people with god mode level cars..cough cough Mclaren f1 gt(r?)

Horace Reid getting cars via career mode is fine, it's a good way to get players engaged in your game. There are various cars though that after you miss an event you will never get them again. Say somebody gets the game today, they have missed several rivals events and they will never get that car. (Ford RS1800, 2016 Chevy Camaro, ect.) If you didn't sign up for a specific Porsche cup event then you will never get the 911 GT3 from 2016. That is what I have a problem with.

I was playing that one the other day using dolphin emulator. Controlling and steering the car is so bizarre. It was my first time playing the game and I really couldn't understand why the game was praised back in the day. The best racing game on GameCube, imo, is Burnout 2.

I play GT SPORTS...It's more of a simcade than a real sim,but it's very fun to play online.Loved your video.It's very accurate.You told exactly what to expect from each of these games.

Just added you to my PS4 friend's list GT sport is my preferred sim to drive and I try to drive every Friday night. I do enjoy Asetto Corsa as well and P Cars 2, Dirt has some bugs with my steering rig so I ended up not playing that too much. And I do think this is a great guide for sim racing ou put out here. Keep up the good work Donut Media :)

I have countless hours in project cars 2 and Asetto Corsa. I like the immersion in Pcars2 more than AC, but I like the actual handling characteristics of AC more

Race 07 or Assetto Corsa are my go to sims. i've been rocking corsa more recently as I've just added an oculus to my set up.

It is very much worth it - especially at the $400 price point. You just have to have a computer that can handle VR - I lucked out and already had one. Now I'm saving up for a fanatec wheel and peddle set.

Ive been having a blast with art of rally with just standard controller, it got me into buying the g29 and i gotta say, ive been having a lot more fun with forza horizon and art of rally with a wheel and gear shifter. Im not a super fan of the sims, but the more arcady stuff is really fun for me

For me, iRacing is the best Sim I have ever played. I first started out playing Forza series a while back and then started doing stuff like PCars2. After that, moved up to iRacing. I actually had tried iRacing about a year earlyer and was not ready for it clearly. However, once I picked it back up and I knew what to expect, it has been great.

Yeah. It may have a lot of DLC but DLC on racing sims take much much more to maker. Especially when they are laser tracked. You only need to spend like £20 to get the class types you want.

NASCAR Racing 2003 Season (Sierra/ Papyrus) I think it's the one that defined on-line NASCAR sim competition. Played it for over 12 years on and off.

I was a big fan of GT for the longest time, but please if you are going to consider GT a sim and not a simcade then you have to include Forza in that group. I personally don't consider either a sim. They are both simcades and that is okay way more fun to play and far less tedious.

WOAH HOLD UP Dirt Rally was the first to feature RallyX (licensed as well). Also, it's almost as hard-core sim as RBR. It's THE game to get if you want a modern, realistic Rally simulator. Dirt 4 is a great game but Dirt Rally is definitely more serious, realistic and demanding of your driving skills. And check out Automobilista if you're looking for a serious racing sim on the level of iRacing and rFactor 2 with great AI and some amazing cars. Racing trucks, F1 from multiple era's (60's up to modern F1), stadium trucks, V8 Supercars, some crazy British track monsters and many more cool racing cars. My favorite sim for serious offline racing.

First game sim game i played was r factor 1 from dad was really in to it bc aussie v8 supercars was in it then he moved on to i racing and ive been playing that since definitely my favorite game never get bored

I'm an iRacer, and I have played just about all the other sims (even though Dirt 4 is arcadey) and can honestly say that you guys have hit the nail on the head with iRacing. It is the MOST REALISTIC sim out there. I switched from PS4 to PC in 2017, and I DO NOT regret it. rFactor, P Cars 2, and GT Sport are great, nothing quite gets close to iRacing. The fact that iRacing Laser Scans their tracks AND cars, it adds to the experience. For ANYBODY considering getting a PC for iRacing, I HIGHLY recommend doing it. It has also helped me in real life!

Toca race driver 3 is one I used to play that I never hear mention of. Which is weird because it has every type of 4 wheel racing imaginable including monster trucks, dirt track, rally, historic, so many and the crash physics are mind blowing for such an old game. Racing f1 in it really made me understand down force and the impact of loosing any peice of aero dynamic bodywork. There's wheel shimmys blown tires locked wheels broken steering. It was mind blowing in 2010ish.
