I'm Somali and I have really delighted to watch such an amazing similarities and the differences we have,, it's the first time to watch,, but I know Kushititik families have more similarities than the differences,,let's count all the words sentences,,,for us Somalis can Easily study Oromo language,,some people says it's amount of three or four months to get Oromo language,,,while it may take years for Amharic language,,,, so keep going your research,,,we would be there,,,

I am somali amd speak haraghe oromo. I don't understand Northern oromo. But haranghe oromo are very similar. I don't understand why somali are leading to the Arabs we are very closer to oromo. Som somali geraar has oromo words. Thanks obaleso ( walashey) make somali and oromo closer.

I'm Ibrahim from Mogadishu, Benadir region. You've mentioned couple of Somali words like "Aware" for dust and "Gurbood" for youths which I've never heard before. Here in Mogadishu we use the word "Dust" for '(Siigo or Boor)' and Youths for ('Dhalinyaro'). I don't know which region you're collected that accent. By the way, I enjoyed the video. Thanks so much. @Quxube Sero There are dialect in Somalia, another video of Bahardor you mentioned word Qabda, to have in Mogadishu and Southern Somalia is Qabaa(masculine 3rd person singular ) Qabta(Feminine 3rd person singular) in Somaliland is leeyahay(Masculine 3rd person singular) leedahay(Feminine 3rd person singular)Therefore in that word to have Southern dialect is similar to Oromo, but dust in south is boor but in the north or Somaliland is aware and in this case north is similar to Oromo.

Here are some more words • Roob = Rain • Jira = is/exists • Curad/Urad = first born • Qod/qori = stick • Gorof/Gaawe = I dont know in english but it is a wooden bucket for milk. I think both af somali and afaan Oromo share these words. I am somali but I heard most of these words from a video of Gabra ppl.

The difference we have happened naturally over thousands of years due to the different immigration and integration patterns these ethnic groups took over longer period of time. It has nothing to do with European colonial powers.

The only difference is that Arabic Tigray Somali Afar and Saho have different sounds that can’t be heard in Amharic and Oromo otherwise it’s the same.

I'm a Borana from Kenya in Marsabit county, Rendile are our neighbors and they speak old Somali language not the current Somali language which has heavily borrowed vocabularies from Arabic and European languages .

billawa and Abley are Maaymaay dialect spoken in Bay Bakool Lowrshabelle regions and somewhere in Gedo region

I also learnt Lagasera in Oromo while in Moyale town. Exactly in Somali we call laga as Lag and Sera as Seer. But in that of the Lagasera in Oromo, we could have said Lagtaseerka. Note: some Somalis from Kenya and southern Somalia call it Seer others says Xuduud ( Huduud )

My Oromo cousins speak almost the same language as me. Geeraar means a style of poetry. Gabay is poetry. Gaari or Gaadhi is actually a Hindi. Aayo means in Somali a step mother.
