The similarities found between Korean and Tamil is a subject that many people are unaware of. There are several proposals that have been brought forward to explain the strong connection between the two languages. In fact, a proposed language family called Dravido-Koreanic, or Dravido-Koreo-Japonic, links the living or proto-Dravidian languages to Korean and in some cases to Japanese. In this video, Ellen (Korean speaker) and Visha (Tamil speaker) demonstrate some of the commonalities between the two languages with a list of words and sentences.
As mentioned in the video, be sure to check out Visha’s unique business, Poche posh, which she operates with her friend Jessica: www.pocheposh.com/

The Korean language (한국어/韓國語 - 조선말/朝鮮말) is classified as a Koreanic language and considered a language isolate. It is the official and national language of North Korea and South Korea, and also one of the two official languages in the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and Changbai Korean Autonomous County of Jilin province in China. It is also spoken in parts of Sakhalin, Russia, and Central Asia. Modern Korean descends from Middle Korean, which descends from Old Korean, which descends from the Proto-Koreanic language.
The Tamil language (தமிழ்) is classified as a Dravidian language and mainly spoken by the Tamil people of India and Sri Lanka. In addition to India and Sri Lanka, Tamil also has official status in Singapore. In Malaysia, Tamil is used as one of the languages of education along with English, Malay and Mandarin. Aside from Tamil Nadu and the Union Territory of Puducherry, in India, Tamil is also spoken in the states of Kerala, Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana and the Union Territory of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands. Tamil is considered one of the longest-surviving classical languages in the world.

There is also little connection between English and Tamil , the term English came from the word Anglo and term Anglo came from tamil word aangilam , the richest Indian economy before 17th menstioned by marko polo century was tamils , yes you heard it right our Tamil merchants like pandya dynasty tamils had trade contract with European countries , middle east , Africa ,south east asia ... And so .. our Tamil merchants used to call old latin/old English speaker as aangilargal aka aangilam language speakers . Which later deformed or differently prounouced as ANGLO .

Although I don't speak tamil because I m from the Northern part of India where Hindi is spoken widely but I knew few words from tamil language like Amma , Appa , Vanakam etc,. Which we read in an english magzine given in my school library in the year 2014. And when I started watching k-drama since 8 January 2019 I use to come across few words in Korean language(Hangeul) which sounded similar to the tamil words that I already knew. "Left handed wife" is my first k-drama which is one out of my all time favorite k-drama. And this is the drama where I heard about Amma and Appa. I knew there is something common between Tamil and Hangeul language. Thanks to this video that we could find alot of similar words in both of these languages.

My mother-tongue is Hungarian and I am actually a bit shocked to see this, even though I know some of these words can sound similar in very different languages without being relatives, but still! (father) - appa - apa (Hungarian) (I) - na - én (and in other Finno-Ugrian languages, "mina") (mother) - amma - anya (aunt/older woman than yourself) - anni (Kor) - néni (Hun) (day) - nal - nap (fight) - sanda - csata (battle in Hungarian, cs is pronounced as English "ch") (mandatory) - kattayam/kachayaham - kötelező They might be co-incidences, but I'm impressed!

It's probably coincidence since Tamil is completely different from the Hungarian language due to hungarian being from the Indo-European language group. There's probably many similarities with Hungarian and Sanskrit if you look deep enough since they're in the same language family!
@leventec9128
@leventec9128 Жыл бұрын
@@idkatthispoint-s9s I believe too that some of these are coincidence. But you are wrong on the second statement: Hungarian is not an Indo-European but a Finno-Ugrian language. We have a high level of agglutination and our language originates from the Easternmost geographical part of Europe, having had contact with ancient, now extinct languages that were Turkic, Iranian besides others.

And the Korean girl literally forced that ல too much that it sounded like பழ்... So none of them pronounced it right. That literally ticked me off. And sorry if this hurted anyone! I didn't mean to. Hello, I'm Korean. Something wrong about where the Queen came from. The Indian government should correct the place and inform to Korea. It's not AYODHYA. What the Queen said was that she came from Southen India next to the sea. I think Tamil Nadu. Ayodhya is in North. This is stupid.

I am sure if we go deeper and study both the languages we could find more common words used by both Korean and Tamil. I am sure this episode will lead to more discoveries and also encourage more people to explore deeper into this issue. Thanks so much for this presentation. I am from Chennai, South India.

What? My dad didn’t even know korea had a Tamil Queen.. I’m pretty sure if she’s worshipped as a god by Koreans, the majority of Korean people would know about her. I don’t mean this disrespectfully, it’s definitely cool to learn that there was a Tamil queen in Korean history and to find all these similarities in the Tamil language and Korean language. I just don’t think she’s worshiped as a god

Although I don't speak tamil because I come from the Northern part of India where Hindi is spoken widely but I knew few words from tamil language like Amma , Appa , Vanakam etc,.
