Losing Goldson and Jack didn't help. It was 1-1 at the break. Rangers fans can complain all they like about Goldson, but he's been our best centre back since he came. The partnership with Davies over the last few weeks has looked good. Now both are injured. King will be a good player, but he's 18 and isn't up to CL standard yet. Could be King and Sands at centre back v Napoli.

As many have said on here, no one realistically expected Rangers to get a result against Liverpool no matter how many injuries or poor form Liverpool have. BUT, when you are at home and the crowd is behind you you just don't ship seven goals in the top tiers of European football.

We're obviously levels below liverpool...The final of Europa tho, suggests a team that should consider themselves at least in the second, or third/teir of European Teams. So getting beat by Liverpool is fine and going out at group stage is fine but not 7-1. I hope that a lot of that money is being invested in the Academy for long term vision/profit....but i doubt it.

During the summer,Rangers had a NET spend of £16 million, Liverpool had a NET spend of £8 million. Klopp doesn't get unlimited resources, like City, United, Chelsea and the rest. I doubt Pep would have won anything if he wasn't a cheque-book manager.

White is also way off on the money he claims Rangers brought in. The Bassey deal is staggered and Rangers have only received £8 million so far. Aribo deal was only £6Million and not all at once. Qualification for UCL was £14million the rest comes later. Rangers spent £12.6 million this summer.

Couldn’t agree more with what Simon is saying. I said it to many people since the weds. Gio was asked to get us into CL and he did that. Scottish teams will never be able to compete in the CL until we can bring in the same type of money as the top 4 leagues. And with it being our 1st time back in it after nearly 13 years we can’t expect miracles overnight. 1 of Liverpools subs cost more than our full squad. Gio should not be judged on CL results when we don’t have the squad to keep up with these teams. I’ll judge Gio at the end of the season cos not 1 rangers manager has been sacked cos they failed in CL that’s including Walter Smith. We learn from it and move on, and go again next season in Europe.

Of course there is a difference in the leagues and the quality but that is right throughout the champions league and the europa league even. By this being said it is basically meaning Utd should win 10-0 tonight but they only just beat them 3-2 last week. Rangers SHOULD be embarrassed especially as they thought they could get something from the game before it started. They almost were expecting it. And a lot of the goals Liverpool scored was real schoolboy defending/errors from Rangers.

Some of the goals were from errors but the finishing was the best Liverpool have put on display all season. Jota still can't get a goal but Firmino, Nunez and Salah's finishing was unreal. Some of the goal build ups were mostly one touch or quality delivers. Not many teams could resist that type of football.

I would suggest the Ajax 1-6 Napoli was more embarrassing taking into account each 4 teams strengths and positions in European football right now. Napoli are not 1 of Europes elite, Liverpool are. The problem seems to be the zone system heavily weighs in favour of the bigger money clubs. Coaches need to go back to basic simple football with heart & desire. If the 70s, early 80s players got the modern ball & pitches it would be wonderful viewing. The modern tennis football is a tough watch.

I was there; Rangers were mince. Yes Liverpool have better players and more resources, and the gulf in leagues was highlighted in brutal fashion, but the Rangers players to a man did not step up to the plate.

@@timmyripkey2030 ..I agree, but Celtic won them both by big score lines. I think Celtic have a better chance of beating Shaktar at Parkhead than Rangers have of beating Ajax or Napoli. It’s still been a reality check for both Scottish clubs.

The problem both Rangers and Celtic face is the opposition they play ever week,they are not learning anything as they role over the teams they face,then when they play the top teams from around Europe it shows how far short they are from being at that standard.for me the only way it will change is for them to involved in the premiership playing better quality team’s but sadly I can’t see it happening so unfortunately it’s going to be the same each year until it happens.

That is one aspect of it along with the financial disparity The same issues however were in place in the naughties when Celtic were regularly beating the likes of Utd, Juventus, AC Milan, Benfica however........it IS possible for both Celtic and Rangers to be competitive within the CL but generally far more difficult due to those issues It's very frustrating because they're both great clubs and Celtic especially being the pioneers for British football in playing at the very top

i mean this isnt just a normal liverpool either, this is a liverpool thats like a wounded animal they arent doing that well but you saw it in the second half, the intensity, the focus, the dedication was that of a team fighting for relegation but they have the talent of a title winning team. Rangers couldve maybe out fought and out hearted a strong liverpool who would be suprised by it but liverpool right now are on the brink of a catastrophic season and those players on that night in the second half looked better and more driven then they have all season. have to agree with simon here, it isnt acceptable to lose 7-1 but liverpool have had 7 years under klopp, have won champions leagues and a premier league title have far more money and talent then rangers and right now they are having to fight very hard alongside that talent there isnt a comparison to be made here.

Celtic beat RB lipzig last year. They should have been capable of putting in a better showing for them selves. There is also a very big difference in talent available in Liverpool's squad regardless of there current form. Personal I think both Scottish teams are better suited for Europa League at the moment.

They'd be lucky if they came in the top half of the Championship! Celtic & Rangers are just as big as some of the biggest clubs in the world in terms of fan bases & global merchandising, etc but because they play in the Scottish League which pays a tiny fraction of the English Premier League they will never compete financially. If the Old Firm were in England they'd soon be as big any of the top teams which is why they wanted to leave a few years back. Celtic get 60,000 & Rangers over 50,000 gates in one of the worst top leagues in Europe. That said there is no excuse for giving up against anyone. It was embarrassing!

@@ShouldBeRevisingNow I think any championship team would push Rangers & Celtic and would finish ahead of Hearts, Aberdeen, Hibs etc. Hearts got put out the Europa League by FC Zurich, then lost 4-0 to Istanbul Basaksehir and 3-0 to Fiorentina in the Conference League group... I don't think any championship team would get spanked around by teams like that?

Yeah he made a few great saves as well. There was nothing he could do about the scoreline except making sure it didn't get worse. You can't blame him when Liverpool are constantly getting great shots off in the box and moving the ball around well there. Could've been prime Neuer between the sticks and it'd be more or less the same result.

Getting to the CL was the end goal anything else would just be a bonus, Barca beat Celtic 7-0 in the 2016 CL so it does happen and this Napoli team is more than capable of taking 5 or 6 goals off of any group including some of the best teams out there but if Rangers had spent the same money as PSG and won nothing in real terms they would still be complaining

Well to be honest with you m8 I am a Liverpool fan but m city not winning against Copenhagen was probably because they left a two or three of their best eleven out of the starting eleven and they weren't at their top level however they only needed a point from the match to qualify and they got that comfortably the weird thing about last night match was for 54 minutes until we scored rangers were actually In the game they took the lead after all and then mo salah decided he had a point to prove didn't he but I ain't naive enough to think we will get anything from city on Sunday because of this result we will have to perform a lot better in general because they are the best team around atm imo ?🤣

The most disappointing thing from Rangers fans perspective, is the response of the players the moment Liverpool scored their third goal. The moment it became 1-3 Rangers just gave up and totally collapsed. What Simon doesn't understand, is that there is a way to lose football matches and a way to not lose football matches. There is no shame in losing 2-0 away to Liverpool. But no club should be losing 7-1 at home regardless of the opposition. It's unacceptable. And yes it's also unacceptable for Bournemouth to lose 9-0 at Anfield. Also, it's very clear that age has caught up with McGregor.

i actually agree. Rangers played quite well. it got to 2-1 and it was already game over. at that point they accepted their fate and the rest is history. i also thought the Rangers goalie was absolutely shite
