One of his several amazing productions. Especially the beginning is mindblowing. Unfortunately no video. This track can be found on the Drum Nation Volume 1 CD.

“Manganese” took about a day to compose and was actually the first solo piece I have written in a while. I was very lucky that Jeff Babko, Jimmy Johnson and Andy Timmons were available and before I knew it the day was upon me. After getting sounds, throwing on the phones and learning the chart we cut the track in just a few hours - nice and live and full of energy. A couple of guitar overdubs and that was it - ready to mix and that took all of a day. This was so much fun to write, record and mix, without the enormity of recording a full length CD - a hark back to how records were made in my earlier years, with all the advantages of modern techniques. Very enjoyable. What an intro that is, incredible and then what a riff, love those 1st 33 seconds especially. That shredding is very similar to something I heard on one of his albums years ago,

@skynyrdnemoy24188 жыл бұрын
Yeah! Actually your wrong tho, it's actually in 12/14 and 9/44, but I agree his transition is impecable. Keep practicing kid. By

+Eunice F please enlighten me I never heard of a time signature 12/14 or 9/44. Not sure how you're counting. I'd like to know how you break down the phrases
@skynyrdnemoy24188 жыл бұрын
+mrstyks oh I'm not surprised you haven't heard of that timing before, it's very advanced, like all the tracks I lay down. And I basically do my phases the same way you do, one at a time. See I went to a music school called Juliesyard, so a lot of people don't know my techniques, cuz I'm real advanced, see.

Well share the wealth! Can you show an example of the sticking or explain the notation of those time signatures
@skynyrdnemoy24188 жыл бұрын
+mrstyks Sure I can! I'd be glad to, I've just gotta get my skins from my moms house, and I'll make a video on my phone, in HD. I want you to have a clear view of my sticking.

poor keyboard player, trying to be heard, like at 4:53. the guy is so fucking locked into the groove and the Rhodes just wants to say a couple of words, if the only the guitar player would turn it the fuck down for 5 measures. i get the guitar riff already;, i got it 50 measures ago. you had your solo.... now simmer it the fuck down and let someone else in!!! ;) LOL! it's now 2PM. i've been playing this song over and over since about 10AM... i love this song!
