Holy smokes what the hell just happened. 13 minutes and 14 second. I'm telling you folks i felt like i was there standing off to the left side of Simon's drum riser then...wtf....im back sitting in my freaking room wondering was i at that show or did i pass out. I had the audio running through my system and had the volume turned up really damn high. I wanted to talk to lee and find out if its his flannel shirt that gives him the super shredding powers to tear that guitar apart without it blowing the hell up. I cant freaking tell anyone about this video. They wouldn't believe me. Thats just how its got to be. Wow ....... Folks check out mike stern with bob berg sax player and Dennis Chambers on drums.... omg its freaking very intense stuff.

As a drum teacher and music educator Simon has always been at the top of my list of recommended drummers to watch. Feel, dynamics, rudiments, groove and most importantly timing. It’s a shame so many people are caught up in their favourite music and scoff at such amazing musicians. You don’t have to be a fan of the genre appreciate someone who is an elite performer.

Saw Simon many years ago in a clinic. He convinced me right then to not dampen my drums. I agree with him. Drums should be wide open and the entire set should work as one instrument

How is anyone talking about the fact that he has a totally ambidextrous way of playing , leading with both hands !!! It is incredible

Ultimate trust in everyone keeping the pulse. It’s a magical thing. Frees you up to express yourself in wild ways. Perfect example. It’s rare. I love it. Grateful Dead had it. King Crimson……..

How odd…”Daltrey Sings Townshend” …only without Daltrey. How much like this has become an American phenomenon! Doors blowing out on Boeing jets, Donald Trump claims “Massive Voter Fraud”…and half the country believes him…and here’s a video with Daltrey Singing Townshend …WITHOUT Daltry! What’s next? Grocery stores who only RAISE their prices when fuel costs rise…but NEVER when they fall?

Does anyone remember back in the 1990's when Mark & Brian (they have a star on the sidewalk) Used Simon's version? They had this as their show themesong. Simon is NO slouch... It wasn't a race to the end like Buddy taxed his musicians. I enjoy hearing all the notes... I could memorize that beautiful Tenor sax's solo-awesome

I just ran across this after starting to research Simon Phillips after seeing his performances with Hiromi Uehara and DarWin. Wow! Now my absolute favorite drummer. Love the big drum kits!

There's only so much you can do with such a basic rock beat. This was Simon trying not to get bored out of his wits, I think.

I’ve always been a Simon fan since hearing with Jeff Beck. But that Lee Ritenhour solo was off the hook! And Simon’s drumming during the solo added to the intensity! Awesome!

What makes Simon great is his ability to be both melodic and technical at the same time. Plenty of great drummers out there, but few are both.

It's a nice effort for a rock drummer. He's way to heavy on sticks. Backbeat should be more subtle. Just my opinion.
