Why is everyone saying this is over scored? What score would've been acceptable? She did lose 1.9 on this routine, she makes no errors really until the punch front, .5 for touching the beam, another .3 to .4 tenths for the crazy legs. She only pulled a 8.1 execution on an otherwise great routine...she has awesome difficulty and execution.

+meggzamillion Totally agree! I took off full tenths for the other tiny wobbles, one leap where she may not have hit full 180 degrees, the one pass where she just walked/danced across the length of the beam (b/c some judges hate that), as well as 1 or 2 tenths for the dismount hop and ended up with 14.4

For those who are saying this was over scored - you are correct. This should have been about a 14.1, given how they've scored this apparatus so far. Thing is, it doesn't make a damn bit of difference to the placings. And as for the suspicious connections... She only got a 6.3 which means that she did not receive full difficulty.

if this was KOMOVA she would fall and not fight to stay on beam LOL. Simone's mental toughness shows and it did not ruin her entire meet.

Komova is also dealing with an ankle injury and has fought theough sickness and injury for two years. Say what you will but if gabby had the complications that komova had, she'd probably be at home cuddling her Olympic gold instead of going for another round.

That's the thing about Simone's routines. She can have a huge error like that near fall but her difficulty score is soo high it can withstand a huge blow.

SHE WAS NOT OVERSCORED. The thing here is that she got almost 2 points in deductions but you won't even notice because the final score is still kinda high. Why? because she has a crazy difficult SV, even without some connections. International judges don't use to overscore, I'm not saying they never do, but this was not the case. She has a good routine with just one visible error and that's it. Don't forget touching the beam is just 5 tenths okay?

Had it not been for the nearly .8 deduction it would have been nearly flawless. I love that she recovered well and had a great rest of the routine. Hopefully she can still win. I believe she will

omg simone :( she had to go first on beam for her group, and combined with all the additional pressure (and the fact she had been KILLING it up until the front tuck), i'm sure it made her super nervy

14.400 seems a bit too high considering she put her hand down on the punch front. The judges have been brutal on beam up to this point. That opens the door a little bit for Gabby though to make up some of her 0.400 deficit Simone after 2nd rotation.

+Bryce Holley Thank you Bruce, it was an amazing routine without the .5 bobble ... I'm sure the took more. When she hits everything her difficulty is 6.9. She WAS NOT OVERSCORED on any event ... she is that good! !

I love Simone with all of my heart and want her to succeed more than anything... but I think she's kind of scored in her own league because everyone expects her to be perfect. I think they could underscore her and she would still win every medal she has, but I do think she gets consistently overscored BECAUSE she's Simone. And I want to emphasize AGAIN that she deserves every medal she has one, but I just don't think she's measured on the same plane. I also may have had a heart attack in this moment...

She won by higher d-score on all events except bars. Gabby might be cleaner but she can't do those difficult tricks Simone does.

+dahighbar "planned" isn't equal to "done". Until i see her upgrades successfully accomplished, I stand by my opinion. The same applies to Simone. She's been training for a Cheng vault, but I won't say she can do it well until i see her compete it well in a meet.

+dahighbar she does have upgrades coming...but simones DM may not be possible for gabby. Simone is clean...and has the difficulty. but I'll never count gabby out! especially after these world's!!! so impressed!

Too high. Again. Iordache and gabby were both much cleaner. Though simone based on difficulty as always was clearly champion.

Gabby wasn't much cleaner. She had a few big wobbles. Considering Simone's routine had higher DV, it makes senses their scores are about the same.

Simone had slight checks and GRABBED the beam. Gabby had 3 minor wobbles. Gabby was clearly much cleaner and only 2 tenths separated them on difficulty. Gabby shouldn't have been scored the same.

The leg didn't "fly off the beam". It went up but she didn't really show any other sign she just pulled it back in, a tenth at most therefore minor.

+Apollo Praetorius her dismount is the most difficult dismount in the world and she goes higher than any female on it. Difficult...yes...overscored...no. You probably don't even really understand what "overscored" is.
