I couldn't agree with you more. It's completely arbitrary and dependant on which set of judges are on the panel on any given day.

Aly only won because Simone dropped out of finals as did Laurie Hernandez. Simone scored over a 16.000 at Pac Rims, Aly's highest score was a 15.6 I'm pretty sure. Simone has phenomenal execution and amazing difficulty+fun choreography, can't really beat that. Dominique is good, especially for her era with all the double flips and back to back tumbling, but you can't really compare gymnasts when they competed 20 years apart. It'd be like comparing Doninque's routine with Nadia's routine, both 20 years apart. Simone has far more difficult tumbling with her dismount being Dominique's hardest pass and having enough energy to compete three passes all above an F level. Both awesome gymnasts, but not a fair comparison, especially since Dominique isn't even competing anymore.

Marc Myron Biles certainly has glue in the bottom of her feet, that's for sure. But to me, she doesn't come across as brilliantly as either Dawes or even Aly on the floor. Or the beam for that matter. If artistic presence is still a factor, I guarantee you that Raisman is going to shock some people in Rio. For my money, she is better than she is given credit for. Her arms move like there are no bones in them when she dances on the floor and when she moves on that beam. She has the lines of a rhythmic gymnast while performing at the highest level technically. And every few years, they say the same thing, "you can't compare then to now, then to now." Sometimes, yes you can. Art is still art in gymnastics. And the technical requirements, to the untrained eye, are exactly the same now as they were in 1996. And Biles simply does not shine as well as either Dawes or Raisman in the process. I'm guessing that she's just been lucky. We'll see. Gabby fell apart, and I'm waiting for Biles to do the same thing. I just don't see what all the hype is about beyond her sticking her landings. Just my uneducated opinion.

Raisman isn't even that artistic. and she isn't gonna "surprise" us, she has no chance of winning unless Simone falls or goes out of bounds. her splits don't even hit 180 while Simone's actually do. so your comment is very, very irrelevant. Simone is the best on floor, get over it :)
