Make your own mist coolant delivery system for your machine shop! Costs less than $40 worth of parts and only 8 minutes of your time (Less if you’re better at getting the backer off the 3M tape than I am!)

Only thing missing is the air line connection. I figure I'd just use a standard 1/4 male air coupler with female threads for the blue tube fitting to screw into that comes with the air line. Thanks!

I usually keep tweezers handy when dealing with double-sided tape. They work way better than my thumbnails!

Great idea with the magnetic base! Simple yet effective. Ive got the components for one of these systems but didnt want to mount it but using some strong tape as you say I could use this on my lathe, mill and probably even CNC.

The 3M tape has held on strong for me. Even with the vibration of the surface grinder where I used it extensively.

I use IPA on mine when cutting non ferrous. Its nice because it evaporates quickly.
@EnoRestoration

Thanks for watching my channel! What is IPA (besides the beer…)?
@Festivejelly
@Festivejelly 10 ай бұрын
Isopropyl alcohol. Its used in hand sanitiser and is generally used for cleaning. But because it evaporates so easily its pretty decent as coolant but also means you dont get all gummy chips.@@EnoRestoration

Thanks for posting this. Very Helpful. How much air does it take? How do you manage the coolant mess?

I’m not sure the CFM usage but my normal sized compressor works just fine. It will run on and off if I’m running it a long time. For the surface grinder those jobs usually take longer so I’ll set up a drip pan to collect the coolant. For lathe and mill I’ll just let it go, and set up a drip pan only if needed. The kool most works well and doesn’t create any rust.

Hi, does the coolant reservoir have to be level or above the mister? I was planning on making a similar set up but I want to put the reservoir on the ground. Thanks!
@EnoRestoration
@EnoRestoration 11 ай бұрын
Reservoir below the mister is best, otherwise you'll get a siphon effect and fluid will flow when you don't want it to. I use mine on the ground all the time!
