Here's a short video showing a "simple" pair of ideas in action for uncoupling ( de-coupling ) your N scale trains on any layout , the 1st idea is of a "lifting" ramp that rises up to uncouple the loco from the carriages , the 2nd idea is called a "Shirt Box Lid Decoupler" & as the name implies - it's using the clear plastic that you'd find from a men's shirt box - i.e. the "Shirt Box Lid" ; although not a new idea - this has been around for many years for the more common "HO" scale trains & I've modified the idea to suit the N scale couplings that are used as "standard" , as for the "Micro trains" couplings - you'd use a simple magnet placed under the tracks to do the same kind of job.
