I have a knee problem which was diagnosed as Osteo Arthritis and has become debilitating and most of the exercise videos I have followed are about range of movement and strengthening muscle groups, reps, sets etc and they have all been more or less useful. After a week of watching Taro's videos, I have so far become much more aware of how I move my joints very subtly in relation to my whole body which is very different from other O.A. and Seniors oriented exercises. Taro's delivery and explanations about what is happening during the exercises are really helpful. He builds in time to reflect and perceive how my body experiences the very subtle movements involved. He is quite specific in his guidance and the videos are just long/short enough to follow and repeat if necessary and so far i have never overdone it to the point where I aggravate pain! I think this is life changing, a very strong combination of theory, intelligent approach and very effective delivery. So far my knee and I are having a much happier relationship.

You are a very caring person. I love the calmness in your voice encouraging movement. I think most older persons shy away from doing any kind of exercises is because they have less energy to do difficult workouts. But your movements are slow and easy and not difficult to do. God bless you for your helpfulness to others.

Oh sensei that was amazing!! I never knew how to walk, and when I think about how I should walk, of course I get frozen. It was incredible to feel the rib cages and, as with all the other exercises, my breathing goes longer and deeper. You are a godsend. I was spending hours doing stretches exercises but then it doesn't last. That has been very discouraging and depressing (I have facet syndrome, osteoarthritis, fibromyalgia, etc.) Thank you for giving me hope.

I just discovered your channel last week, and I am trying some of these exercises for the first time. I am very hopeful about the emphasis on relaxation, mindfulness, and smoothness, the small range of motion. Looking forward to learning a lot more! Thank you so much for sharing this perspective on movement retraining in a “work harder, be strong” culture.

The last few days I have done these with tiny motions several times a day and just before I go to bed. They have reduced my night time pain by 50%. I used to change positions six times in seven hours. The last two nights only three times. I will continue with the incremental movement rather than broad stroke. Thank you Taro.

Don't know any other way to contact you. Hoping you will see this. Based on the description of hip Circle for arthritis, I probably never would have watched this one. I have struggled with imbalance in my glutes for a long time and the inability to do lunges especially on the right leg, as well as night time hip and leg pain. Some of your other exercises such as the morning routine have been helping but oh my goodness, the difference in using hip circles! Just wanting to ask if you could maybe either redo it or ADD description to it so it comes up for other people for other uses. I can't believe that I'm able to engage my glutes while I'm walking now after just a few days of doing these regularly. Thank you so much!

Quite a profound exercise Taro. Thank you again for your lessons ,you are making a big difference for me. Years ago I had access to feldenkrais classes and now I do not so I am feeling extremely grateful to you. I have what feels like a pulled muscle in the top of my anterior hip, could be hip labrum. Have had hip X-ray. Bones fine. Recommended aggressive hip strengthening which may have further exacerbated injury. Also very tight weak hamstring attachment same side and low back involvement (With resultant leg pain sometimes). On Voltaren to stop the complete immobilization.Trying to unlock the lower back . Feeling like continuing feldenkrais with you will help. I’m a massage therapist ,and usually enjoy Nordic skiing ,hiking ,cycling but trying to work through injury at the moment. Many many thanks,Taro.

Ok tried this exercise. Took it very slow. After i stood up to walk seemed ok but didn't walk for more than 30 seconds until I turned (my 'bad' hip) I got immediately got 2 or 3 very sharp stabs in left butt & higher up near to 'belt line.' Left leg from knee down felt locked/not painful but awkward down front of shin. Then I tried exercises with my right hip. Walked around seemed ok, left leg from knee down felt awkward, but no pain. I obviously did something the left didn't like! Walked around some more I turned slightly to left down end of our long corridor, slight 'tweak' of pain at top of knee, below knee & whole shin sort of stiff on left leg. Right knee now gave some tightness below knee after more walking. Hip felt balanced though when walking.

I started the hip circles yesterday. I did each section fives times each, twice in the day and then before I went to bed. Before I got up this morning I did 10 each section. Today my pelvic rolls forward seem weaker, meaning that I can't stay in them very long. Is that because I'm coming out of my bias? Will they get stronger as I continue to do them? I wake up at night from pain around my hips. I am hoping the circles will help this long term situation. I did correct my sleeping position (as per your video) over two weeks ago. Just wanting to understand these dynamics more clearly. Thank you Taro.
