Thanks for sharing your methods- I have that logic of English book as a guide also - the iPad app and her KZfaq videos are the additional resources we use. (I don’t mind this type of screen time in the classroom.)

@@landofkakiakahomeschool actually the KZfaq is interactive as it requires student to write answers so they have paper and pencil ready - we do spelling analysis exercises occasionally

Thank u for the video. How do you know what spelling words to do? Do they go along with starting with the first McGuffy book? Also, I have the box of vocabulary words. Are those different?

It's not the RC Vocab words. I made spelling lists from the McGuffey Spelling Book. It's included with RC but you can also find it for free here: www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/15456 I started from the beginning of the book and broke the lessons in the book into smaller lists for each week so one lesson in the book may cover two or three lessons in my spelling packets if that makes sense.

Love your idea of activities. Is there a way for you to make a packet of just the activity pages without the words list?

Thank you! I would just print the activity pages if you want to use other words. That's what I do. Each grade is a slightly different packet. The activities progress across time. I print the word lists once at the beginning and keep it in their spelling folders and then I just print the activity pages in bulk and staple them into weekly packets that they can get each week. Does that make sense?

@@landofkakiakahomeschool I have a 6th and 8th grader. Yet my 6th grader has some learning disabilities. He is actually using McGuffey First Reader. What packet would you recommend for him? and what packet could I use for an 8th graders word list? Also do your packages have the ideas of what to do each day? LOL even with using my own lists..

@@GisellaHoward If he's reading the first reader I would start him in the grade 1 packet ( I think I should have named them level 1 and not grade 1 ) For an eighth grader I would say use the 6th grade packet. Have you seen my more recent spelling packet videos? I go through each day using three different "grade" level packets. Here is my Day 1 video. Question: is that McGuffey spelling the same as the revised version by American book company? I can’t seem to find the one with that brown cover

I’m not sure about the book company but of all the versions I’ve seen of the revised editions look like the content is the same.

@@landofkakiakahomeschool Ok, great. Yeah, the cover of the one I’ve found looks to match the revised set of books (blue/orange colored ones).

Also, I noticed the book you mentioned Logic of English. I’ve also heard of ABCs and all their tricks, which one is better or are they both worth having?

@@cheshathompson5740 I actually prefer logic of English but the abc one corresponds with the phonics made plain flashcards.
