Good job deez. Thinking out of the box. As long as it works . Thats all that counts.

Thanks Deez. Nice and simple. I might need to make something like that for my lathe.

You got the milling term right, against the spin of the cutter is conventional, climb is with the spin direction, it wants to help drag the part along. Climb milling with fine finishing cuts leaves a super nice surface.👍👌🇦🇺

Thanks for confirming this. I am trying to educate myself on the style of cuts im taking, when to use them and why. Appreciae it.

glad to see you making machining videos again, because to be honest I am not a big fan of lawn tool maintenance vids lol

Thanks for the feedback, I was hesitant to put the John Deere video out but I needed to get all that done and thought I would share it. I do like to understand what subscribers want to see so I apprecaite it.

Use higher quality taps than Harbor Freight (they are not worth the money) use proper size hole according to tap size (if that means a number drill bit than buy a set of number drills) and use a chart to find the correct size drill bit. Back out tap a little every four or five turns to break the chips. And finally use plenty of tap oil when tapping. You can’t use too much oil. It can take hours to remove a broken tap and ruin the workpiece in a worse case scenario. It’s not worth it to chance it especially if it took hours to make the part in the first place. Lastly I’d say unless you’re tapping over 3/8”, try to use a tap follower if you can to keep the tap straight and reduce the chance of breaking a tap because of rocking back and forth.

I have been looking for a good set of Taps but its hard to find just a set of taps. the good sets seem to be Taps and Dies both. I ahve a good set of Dies so I will keep looking but I agree. I do not like these HF taps and dies. I am coming to the same conclusion, Time and effort arent worth being cheap only to break a tap in your hard earned workpiece. I just need to suck it up and get a quality set. Thanks for the tips as well. Cheers.

@@deezworkshop A brand called Greenfield makes beautiful and accurate taps but can be expensive depending on the sizes you want. They are sharp and come clean with no burrs. Cut like butter. Another brand Vermont tap and die makes good respectable taps that aren’t like Greenfield but still a good tap and the price is easier to swallow. They cut good and also don’t cost as much. You can do what I did and buy the Greenfield for the two sizes you use most (they last forever) and Vermont as you go along (you know, like one every one to two months) and eventually you will have all the sizes you are likely to use. Working with quality tools makes the jobs easier, faster and more pleasant (like working with Starrett tools). Not everyone has money to burn so buy wise and buy once. I enjoy watching your videos so keep up the good work.

@@davidt8438 Thanks for the brand tips. I did get some YG taps. those did perform well. I will loko into the Greenfield or Vermont but I have to resist the temptation to use the HF taps. itll bite me someday with a complex part I am working with. Thanks for watching. I appreciate it.
