I will never forget this song playing on my walkman as the dawning sun painted itself across the wall of the studio after a night of no sleep, toiling away on a project I can't recall anymore. A moment, a place, a time, a mood, I will never forget. Thank you.

I was born 6 November 1964, the exact right time to have able to see this talented band form, grow and succeed. What a glorious impact Simple Minds made on me growing up. The music of "My Time" helped me to survive being a teenager in an empty home. I have been on my own since 1978 and lived every moment of my young life then INSIDE THE SANCTUARY OF SONGS LIKE THIS ONE.

If you ever saw this band live you are a greater human than I will ever be. I was 20 in Jan of 1980, a drummer, and had the best 10 years of my life. You have no idea how I miss literally the last great decade of our wonderful country.

Definitely not underated! they conquered the UK AND America with No1 hit records which is extremely rare for a UK/Scottish band. This track and Don't you forget about me featured on the iconic breakfast club movie.

Was lucky enough to see them live last year (2022) & It was an incredible experience, the arena was packed, everyone singing. Jim, Charlie & the band were awesome. The audience was a mixture of ages. Jim was in great shape (does he do yoga by any chance? 🤣) & what a voice!!! Sounded incredible! If you get offered the chance to go & see Simple Minds live....GO & DO IT!!! 😻

What is really incredible about 'Simple Minds' is that, as far as I understand it, a lot of their released recordings were recorded and sound engineered virtually live from live stage/ concert performances. You are only going to get this standard and quality of sound from some of the more sophisticated Rave Festival and EDM/Trance producers in much more recent times. And then you have the actual music itself, which is incredibly good.

Can you imagine being in an audience & holding Jim Kerr's hand?! Alas, I was just a little too young for concerts in '83, and miles away in Canada. I loved New Gold Dream 81-82-83-84, having discovered it in the mid-to-late '80s... Their songs just made you want to pop out of your chair and dance!
