Hi. My understanding is that you don’t really seed Bermuda. Check out @bermudagrasscentral for guidance on Bermuda grass.

I've been left with the opinion that spring overseeding is rarely successful in the southeast? I have only a small area of tall fescue sod that was laid this past fall. Can I spread an rtf seed this time of year to help with dog damage or do I need to wait til fall? I'm I wasting money spreading this late in metro Atlanta. (I know I am taking on a tall order to maintain a tall fescue lawn through the Summer months, but I have irrigation and filtered sunlight). Thanks!

I have had success with Spring seeding because I do it as early as possible. As soon as ground temps hit the 50’s I’m dropping seed. The idea is to give the young grass as much time to strengthen before the hot weather hits.

I noticed fescue has a tendency of laying down when you grow it 3-4 inches and some areas never get cut and it ends up 5-6 inches, I've been raking and blowing to get the grass to stand up and get cut also the bare spots will grow faster, I really like it at 2.5 but I will let it grow to 3.5 by June.

Yep, it does that. I started using Silica to help with that.

Just curious, how did that RTF you planted turn out? Have you notice that it spread? I laid some down in the fall, so too soon to tell if it has done any spreading. Glad to see you back!

It did extremely well for me. I did notice spots fill in from the older RTF in the backyard. Honestly it is really hard to tell besides the fact that I did NOT overseed this past Fall and THAT was truly the goal. Some spot seeding due to Poa but not the entire yard.
