Very smart! I have met this problem for years, but it will cost a band each time. And a proper End cover is better!! I even have two Titanium Balls with a locking bolt, for the purpose, on my one, expensive bike.

But about 40 years to late lol, I was turning them with vice grip heating it and some lead, it never loosen or broken after that, this trick is much simpler and fast.

Check the points where the cable is tightened. If they are frayed, the cable is getting closer to breaking. Also for the end staying in place - there are cable caps that exist exactly for this purpose. But if it's still a good cable, sure, this might fix it.

I was the unofficial bike mechanic in my neighborhood growing up and this was really cool. Hard to thread frayed cables into brakes and keepers etc.

Nice!! I have used my fingers to rewrap the cable and then bend it so it runs closer to the brake caliper so it does not catch on anything.

Ещё как вариант закреплаяешь тросс в шуруповёрт, нагреваешь горелкой тросс до красна и вклчаешь шуруповерт на вращение и вуаля, у тебя запаяный наконечник тросса)

Take the pin out of an appropriately sized rivet, place rivet head over end, crimp :) just thought of this then, would last rather than plastic

On most bikes there is a little clip on the brake mechanism an inch underneath where the wire comes out, that clip is to hold the wire so it doesn’t stick out. You can see the clip in the video near the bottom
