Air Canada Launches 1st Non-Stop Boeing 787-9 Flight Between Canada & Singapore

Air Canada launched its longest flight by distance on April 3rd. This new service will connect Vancouver International Airport and Singapore Changi International Airport. The route is nearly 7,965 miles (13,000 km) long and takes around 16 hours and 5 minutes to complete when flying towards Singapore.

I commuted between Asia and Montreal for 9 years. Air Can was really weak on these routes. Much better now.

Interesting that AC started the route after SQ stopped servicing the route. AC is also flying more flights per week. I would still prefer SQ.

The reason why SQ stop was caused by their high ticket prices. Plane were barely full. Air Canada could offer cheaper ticket using smaller B787-9.

Yes, but imagine sitting 16 hrs in Economy - more like 17 hrs if you count boarding and taxi..

It’s great that AC mainline is expanding. Looking forward for AC to announce newer long haul routes soon. I know AC is eyeing NAN, MNL, restarting MEL and PNH

Not sure which airport you are referring to with PNH (which is the code for Phnom Penh) but I suspect AC would be looking at Saigon or Hanoi before anywhere in South East Asia. Manila excepted.

Planning to travel to SIN, from Canada, I go out of my way to avoid AC, due to poor service, disgusting food, cramped seating in economy and low quality/price ratio. From Toronto, I'll get to JFK then jump on the SQ non stop
