This...this summed up the weapons development during my time in service more than any other :] Background:I 'm going to fight in urban desert places? Here is a monsoon rain storm in a rice paddy for ya. I need to stop 2 wireless band waves with a $200 jammer so I don't blow up from an IED? Here is a million dollar jammer that stops all communications I can use and has a heat bomb triggering device ;). S.Korea 2003, Iraq 2004-2009

Lack of training to use said weapon. The soil is your best defense, why put a shield at the top of a mound when you can dig a hole through the center of the mound and bury the side of the shield with dirt? You'd be lower to the ground.

WW1 had more powerful bullets? Like what exactly? Or did they just use heavier grain rounds or extra gunpowder in the shell?
@chucks4328
@chucks4328 5 жыл бұрын
@@KandiKlover i believe he means in WW1 and for the most part WW2 are heavier caliber rifles. For example the US went with the 30 06, UK the 303, and Germany the 8mm Mauser. Later on militaries started adopting smaller lighter shooting calibers. They realized they didn't need those harder hitting heavy recoiling calibers.

They could have improved the shovel in a couple ways. 1: Fold the shovel slightly so it creates more of an angle for bullets to deflect off of. 2: Make the hole in the shovel come with a "cap" to cover it so it was effective as a shovel 3: Make the handle wooden to reduce weight. Would it have been effective with these modifications? Maybe, but it would be more useful at the very least.
@alexandrbatora9674
@alexandrbatora9674 5 жыл бұрын
1: They could make the shovel folding like an umbrella, but from a 10mm sheet metal. 2: The cap in the shovel could have been done in two pieces, one of them being bullet proof glass. 3: The rifle could have been used as a shovel handle via bayonet grip.

Maybe a titanium version would resolve the weight and protection issue? As for the peephole, I think that you could have the hole in the center of the shovel head. The shaft of the tool could slide into the peephole space when shoveling is called for.

The Ross wasn't garbage at all... it just wasn't suited for the filthy nature of trench warfare. It was a finely crafted sporting rifle and was extremely well built and accurate, that's why it was like by snipers. But because of it being made to fairly tight tolerances and such, it didn't play nicely with the mud and filth so commonly found in trenches.

It also makes a neat little improvised headstone...just set it and forget it until you get shot.

It bewilders me how many massive channels can't figure out audio compression There's pretty much no excuse to not have a consistent volume throughout the video. Make a basic compression preset, save it onto your video editing template, and every single video you ever make will have perfect audio.

It was a great idea, but it has two flaws: *1,* a potential issue with spalling, depending on the caliber and charge of the incoming round; *2,* a counter-sniper would recognize it as a target and either take the shot himself, or request indirect fire (artillery) on the shovel.

I wonder if you get like 5 to 10 guys on bf1 to place sniper shields on the right place on the right map, essentially applying what some of the Canadian sharpshooters did with the shield shovels and make them more effective as a whole

Using this and thinking it's gonna be effective,especially when digging trenches is like taking a bunch of medieval-style villagers and thinking they'll survive a charge straight into a machine gun
