+ElevatorMan5482 ElevExperiencing Productions I do recall a year after it was installed, the AllSync time panel did short out at one point, but they fixed it. The bells suddenly randomly rang for two minutes straight, then they stopped and the system was kaput. The school had to go without bells for quite a while before they fixed the time panel. IDK when the Edwards system broke down, maybe some time in the early or mid-80s, and that is when the Simplex 2350 was installed. I remember synchronizing my watch to it in 7th and 8th grades, so I could tell exactly when the bells would ring.

I did that in high school as well (syncing my watch to the school time/bell system), but the master clock panel was a Simplex 6400, and they used a tone over the intercom system (Dukane) instead of regular bells.

Ikr I had them for just about a year now and there not a scratch on them and they are cleaned monthly along with my other alarms

+wilbur560 Cool! Yeah, at my high school, the schedules would split at lunch times and 11:47 was the lunch bell for 9th and 10th grade and this bell rang twice. The system often went haywire due to power surges which ultimately led to its demise my senior year (back in 2006), being replaced with a 6400 time system, which to my knowledge is still there to this day. When they replaced the system, all the bells only rang once and for 3 seconds each. It was a bit weird at first hearing that scheduled bell only ring once, but you got used to it after a while.

They had an old IBM fire alarm installed when the school was built in 1956. It was replaced in 2003 with a Notifier system. :-/

+SimplexTech Bleh. That's what most of the schools in my area generally use for full-blown fire alarm system upgrades, and in most cases they use voice-evac. They've replaced a couple of old Gamewell FlexAlarm systems, an old Edwards system, a Simplex 2001 (I think), even a 4100U that broke down a few years ago! For quick-and-easy upgrades (like if the existing panel is failing and needs to be replaced right away), they go with the even cheaper Fire-Lite systems; that's what happened at my old school when their old Simplex (4010 and 4208) system failed, and they replaced the old Simplex alarms from the 70s with your run-of-the-mill SpectrAlert Advance alarms on adapter plates. Some schools in my area still use the Simplex 2350 master time systems, too, usually installed long after the school was originally built. I can think of quite a few that still use them, and I have also seen them used to replace old IBM time panels, along with Edwards and older SImplex.

It seems SpectrAlert Advances are the go-to alarm signal for replacing old alarms these days, like at my old school (replacing Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights). Soon, it seems almost every place in my area will just use them.

Correction about my old school; the new system replacing the failed Simplex system is also Notifier, but besides the panel they just replaced the old Simplex 4051+4050-80 horn/lights with SpectrAlert Advances. My college has done the same thing in some buildings, but they'd also replace the old metal heat sensors with System Sensor smoke detectors.
