Hello Troy. Thank you for answering my question. I have spent literally hours trying to figure out this video doorbell trying to get it to work. I even called my internet provider to make sure that I have 2.4ghz and she went ahead and split it from the 5ghz and it still did not work. I have tried 3 times with this SimpliSafe video doorbell camera, and I am OVER IT! Even talking to their technician, she sounded like she really did not have much confidence in their product either. So if anyone else reads this, perhaps save yourself useless hours. This is coming from a person who is very patient too. Their technician did recommend a WiFi extender from their company at $24.95 but I did not have an issue when I had a previous camera from a different brand. I was able to install it accordingly until I got to the part where it is time to get it to connect to the internet and that is where it gets stuck. It kept saying “weak signal” or camera is “disconnected/retry”. So good luck out there. Once again Troy, thank you.

So can you tell us what firmware your doorbell has and did it update after you installed it or was it always that firmware? I actually moved my doorbell inside the house right next to my router and the voice was the same as it was outside. Now that I have the Google/Nest Doorbell, the voice is perfect outside the house. It was the faulty firmware on mine. Glad you got yours to work!

Hey there!! According to SimpliSafe, the doorbell works with 8-24 volt systems so it sounds like you should be just fine!

No the trim was hard to get right for me too. The SimpliSafe angle is up down so might be good with steps.

@@techtalkwithtroy7975 it is working well without the angle. I had to buy a mesh though because of my brick. My signal is on the weak side

Can you tell me what firmware the app is telling you the doorbell is using?

@@techtalkwithtroy7975 firmware 2.6.1.154 I ordered a mesh system to increase the signal. I am expecting that next week

unfortunately the simplisafe doesn't connect with mesh systems as it wants a different router ID... ie: _EXT It seems to be working but still might get another extender that simplisafe sells for $25 that is made for doorbells. On the bright side, I upgrade my spectrum service and now have 330 Mbps speed.

Yes!! I do just that. I have SimpliSafe for security but the have Google Nest Hello doorbell! They don’t integrate, but that’s not a problem. Watch my Google Nest doorbell review. Thanks for watching!!

Good question! When I called customer service for assistance, they didn’t mention that I could do anything with it (like update the firmare) so I’m really not sure why it’s even there.

I’m not sure about the SimpliSafe video coming through a google hub but I can tell you that I ended up getting the Google nest doorbell and it DOES display on your Google devices from the doorbell. Works great. I gave up on the SimpliSafe doorbell. See my video on the google nest doorbell!

Wow, that’s very odd. And you’ve tried different doorbells from SimpliSafe? It should power right up. If the electrician checked the power at the door, I have no idea why it shouldn’t power up. Another reason why I went with Nest Doorbell as I had connection problems with SimpliSafe. Hope you get it working.

Did you try a wifi extender from SimpliSafe to get it to connect to the internet?

Yes! I already had one. But my main issue was the firmware not updating no matter what I tried. And because of this, the voice was always so garbled you couldn’t understand the voice going out to the doorbell. After 3 different doorbells, I gave up.
