jokes aside, it is really nice that a channel with a larger audience like simply covers runs and gives more exposure to "lesser known" runners like ikori. It probably adds a lot more viewers to ikori's livestreams, which probably helps him in the long run

@@Chepchenko Fair enough it was discovered a while ago but it's never been implemented until recently. The method of running Carpetless wasn't discovered until this year, hence why the 120 record has been broken multiple times in a couple months.

@@YvesCFC Bruv look up carpetless SM64 on youtube and you will find videos from 2019 and you talking BS that it was discovered this year, I remember back in 2014 there was a carpetless post in an old Google forum when it was discovered that it could be done with TAS but people tried to do it and they failed with enough pratice they started to do it but it is a hit and miss.

Why arent there more options? Like why not have all stars upstairs runs or all stars in basement runs? I think breaking 120 into 3 separate categories could be a good way to innovate new techs and route options.

it’s beatable but this run is insane. it would be extremely difficult and suigi has already said that he doesn’t care enough to try and get it back right now

It’s probably improvable by ~15 sec realistically. I’d say 46:10 at best with current strats that runners use

@@danzeboy dam good looks bro. between him learning 120 strats and people constantly knocking 120 record down with carpet less, wasn’t ideal timing for someone to hit a new 70 star record when he tryna get 5/5

@@Dr.Dankies_21 That's exactly why Suigi has consistently said he doesnt have 5/5 as an actual goal. It's definitely "possible" but the timing has to work out, and he's not interested in grinding categories he doesn't want to specifically for 5/5. Even 16 star can be beaten in principle - Slip has been on a run ahead of WR out of HMC and in general has been closing the gap. That being said, Suigi definitely can beat this if he ever returns to it - this record's FS exit is >10s behind the best one ever. But it will be hard for sure - the amount of practice Ikori put into this category cant be understated.

In 70 star the only glitches which are forbidden are MIPS clip and BLJs (to pass through star doors) but I think that the carpetless star is a diffucult one and so the speedruners prefer to focus on simpler stars.
