Simucube recently released an optional Throttle damper for those seeking even more control. This can be attached to your Simucube throttle to further smooth out quick movements during pressing and releasing. They sent one over for me to test. In this short video, I'll discuss how to install and adjust it, my impressions of using it and whether I think it's worth purchasing.

I just wanted to clarify something I missed. Unfortunately, this won't be available through resellers if you're in Canada 🇨🇦 , where I am, only in the Simucube EU and US store.

If I had to choose again, I wouldn't buy it. The change is so small that it is not worth the money. Default setting cannot possibly be good enough for you. Then you might as well drive without it 🤔

What do you mean the change is so small? The adjustability range is very large. The stiffest setting is quite heavy.

I've since adjusted it a bit further. but I'm surprised you don't notice any change even at the highest level.

@@simracingden yes, it gets harder. But that doesn't mean it's worth the money. As I mentioned, a stiffer spring can do the same thing at a fraction of the cost.

@@Jan_Ly A stiffer spring feels different than a damper. A damper smooths out movement, a stiffer spring only increases the force but doesn't smooth out movement. But the stock setting is worthless. I had to turn it up 1 to 1.5 turns before it was fine.

@@broodro0ster Agreed, and if you read my first post, I won't buy it if I had to do it over. It's probably also a matter of personal preference whether it's worth buying. I'm not good enough to tell the difference.

The only way of getting the damper in Canada is if SC sends it to you or by ordering from the SC US site, having it shipped to the US and picking it up or forward-shipped over to Canada. Because I knew this and the complaints on the loudness of the throttle, I decided to buy 2 active pedals.

@@freebolt5913 Don’t need to buy 5-10 sets of pedals in search of the best one for me, especially because I can’t try before I buy. I’ve got infinite options without wasting hours physically tinkering on the ground with pedal adjustments when a) my time is valuable b) I’m not a handyman. On that note, 5 year warranty rather than 1-2 years. Yes, you can get Asetek or HE pedals for cheaper, but I won’t have a pedal trying to push my foot off when getting into ABS. The “poor man’s”/DIY way of putting a haptic motor doesn’t do anything close to that because it can’t push back.

@@simracingden No, they’ve said it in their Discord they weren’t shipping to resellers and on Instagram they did a Q&A reel saying no to Canada because we’d have to pay import taxes (weak argument because we still need to pay HST on imports). Enjoying the new pedals and see an improvement already! 😎

Thanks, I must have missed that. That’s too bad. I can say my duties were around $30, which Simucube covered for me because this was sent for review. But you’re right. The customer would end up paying that usually, not Simucube. 🤔

The damper should come with a premium setup like this. Anyone that spends a lot of money for a set like this is of course gonna want all the very best features. I’m sure it will take people off that they need to make this incremental purchase.

If Simucube are only going to sell this on their website, they need to make sure they can sell worldwide. They did the same with the pedal plates. It's really not good PR for them when some areas of the world are left out, for example Canada and the UK. Come on Simucube, either change your e-commerce to support global sales OR allow resellers to sell your accessories to thier customers in the given country.

Agreed, it's a bit disappointing not to see it available worldwide. We Canadians are used to getting left out on things, though. LOL! 😂

@@simracingden some chinese pedals like simjack or simsonn come with optional furniture gas springs, which add considarbale resistance, but also damping (they are dampened and dont rebound fiercly). this is a nice addition, especialy if it is not adding any gritty feeling due to poor quality and doesnt leak air and oil on the first day. as for the simucube's damper (or whatever it is) - the price seems inadequate, but what the alternatives are?
