The thing that inspires me about Sinead , is her incredible bravery to be 100% herself. She is so charming, intelligent, incredibly talented, engaging and natural. She gets given so much stick and she doesn’t deserve it, people are just harsh and judgemental. Sinead is not conventional or going to fit into any societal boxes! She is a truly free spirit. She is 100% herself and I so respect that ! 💓

beautiful thoughts and word to say about her, Bella, thank you. Heartening and moving to know there were people like you experiencing these thoughts and feelings about her when she was alive. I've found it quite incredible reading the comments left beneath the footage of her on KZfaq, so much love, she cut to the core of so many people with her singing and intelligence and efforts to process the world with strength and eyes that saw more than the habitual institutionalised ways of seeing that consume us. Gutted I only started to take her work into me last year, I was very drawn to her because she was so open about her love of God, something I've felt since I was a kid but didn't know how to put into words, and have pretty much left out of my conveyance of myself until that last two years. I only spent time listening to her renditions of hymns and old Irish classics. I'd never thought about her and her life before that. Now I'm working through her albums and feel so damn sad to not to have ever shown her my respects and love when she was here x

This woman is a legend! She was one of the first people to call out the music industry and celebrity culture in the 90s and speak out about the wars going on, she did it all on her own and was bullied mercilessly!

I am all broken up, Sinead. I am 50 years old and I heard this song when I was only 14. It changed my life. You were a HUGE influence on the trajectory I chose to go: That of a bold, outspoken woman, and I, too, have been crucified for it. I am an Indigenous Rights Activist for 36 years and walked across the country until my feet bled into the ground for the American Indian Movement on the Walk Across America in 1992 and then was a National Bernie Sanders Delegate against Donald Trump, and got crucified for being outspoken in America, so I moved to Canada. I know you felt alone and broken and nobody was telling you they loved you. I know that you even went on Dr. Phil b/c you were in crisis and I knew what was in your heart the whole time. You were angel who blessed us all and gave us so much...I will never forget you and I I will NEVER forget the influence you had on me as a teenager. This is the song that introduced me to your deeply soulful voice and that changed me as a teenager who grew up in a troubled home and alcoholic home. YOUR SONGS CAME THROUGH ON MY WALKMAN AND ENCOURAGED ME TO LIVE AND SURVIVE ANOTHER DAY. I am broken up that you have passed. My mother died at same age: 56. This will also haunt me forever. The world, as always, especially America, will tell you how much they loved you after the fact. I am grieving hard, for the empath and sensitive, loving and deeply bold and outspoken women you were and for all of the people who put you through hell and they will all come back and regret that you are gone, but they did not tell you in this life how much they loved you. You were so ICONIC in the late eighties when you came out: LION AND THE COBRA! I will never forget when my friend Wendy introduced me to that album. NOTHING COULD EVER COMPARE TO YOU, SINEAD! NOTHING! You are absolutely incredible and were so beautiful. WELL BEHAVED WOMEN RARELY MAKE HISTORY AND YOU, MY FRIEND, WILL GO DOWN AS THE BEST, A LEGEND. THIS INDIGENOUS WARRIOR WOMAN HERE IS CRYING, WISHING YOU WERE BACK, BUT I WILL SEE YOU UP THERE, IN THE CELESTIAL REALMS. I LOVE YOU, R.

You can Sydney, I did. Have faith in yourself. No matter how deep the hole is there is an exit and you can climb out. I had terrible depression and lack of self worth and guilt through things that I did in my life, I was a soldier all my life. But I got there, took nearly five years and I’ll be honest, it was genuine prayers for help at the end that changed me when I could have ended it all. I had challenged God many times but when I surrendered to him I really felt an instant change. Not preaching my friend , I just want to try to help you. Take care, be strong and try prayer. But the best bit is being better and looking back and realizing that you won and how strong you are.

I’ve always liked Sinead right from the very early days. Looking back on her life and various opinions she had spoken about, make so much sense. Her oppositions to some of life’s situations and trends were spoken with great insight for a young woman. She was always 100% authentic, was never pigeonholed and spoke from the heart. Now that this lovely woman has just passed, I read the news with a heavy heart. I’ve just watched a documentary this evening on Skyarts, which is a collection of her life, career and outspoken views and I realise what an immense loss for those people who were closest to her must now be feeling. What a truly lovely person, may her dear soul rest in peace.

@@KoalaBeer.She said on Facebook that she wanted to be free of the name Sinéad which she found was a "slave name" and said her name at the time as Magda Davitt was "beautiful " and she is happier with a name that suits her much better. The year after that, Davitt changed her name to Shuhada' Sadaqat . Shuhada is a name in Arabic that means martyr and Sadaqat means truth. Martyr of truth❤ At this point I believe Shuhada responded to both Shuhada and Sinéad. The second name change reflected her Muslim faith.❤

Most ppl who experience great suffering don’t “act” out without reason...& after so many ridiculed, judged, criticized, condemned her she had justification. Even as I watched & followed her plight I knew she had reasons. I always thought when she came out with “Nothing Compares...” she was so beautiful & with this amazing voice. She had so many qualities that I admired and respected, and I revered these qualities all the more so because I felt that I didn’t possess them myself. So when she spoke out on so many difficult topics, such as mental illness, religious hypocrisy, moral bankruptcy, toxic fame, racism, misogyny, homophobia, inequality, and so many other issues, I always felt this profound connection with her, because she was saying all of the things that I simply did not feel safe expressing, given the environment that I was being raised in. I cannot believe the positivity and support in the comment section, wow! You Irish people never disappoint mash´Allah, may God inspire you all and keep you safe. I´m so in love with Irish people as every one I have met have been the most non-conventional and path-breaking white people ever. I do not mean to offend anyone, really sorry...I was just born among and grew up among white people and have always experienced most of them a certain way in which they seem concerned about staying quiet about things and mostly only caring for their own issues. Irish people seem to have this emotional availability, vulnerability which makes you feel like they understand the human experience, they seem to speak their mind and are often the first ones to call out any B.S that ANY people are put through and they TALK to you as if you were a fellow human-being and not an "alien". I´m not used to that, sorry if that offends anyone. I was expecting the comments to be FULL of Islamophobia and hate like "You can´t be Irish, you´re a traitor!", but so glad to be proven wrong. You people are so amazing, so fantastic! I also quite love Catholic people. So many of the most spiritually awake and God-loving people I´ve met are Catholics. Much love and respect from a Muslim.

I hundred percent agree I’ve only ever connected deeply with Irish people. I spent a year living there and doing a documentary about Irish people there and the Muslims there and I was so proud when she became a Muslim and not at all surprised.

There was so much media rubbish written about her being crazy when she was just pushing herself to understand the meaning of our condition of being alive and human consciousness. As well as depression and ill health. I just wish she could have been easier on herself. 💜🖤🧡❤️💚Thank you Sinead, for your honesty, courage and beautiful music. 🎶

Great to see that this beautiful sister has worked her way through some very difficult times and come out the other side stronger than ever, maintaining her humility and sense of humor. I hope that some future interviewer will really explore the creative process with her. It's really unfortunate that the allopathic medical establishment messed with her as much as they did, but there's a reason she's still here and shining. LOVE is the only way forward.

So true what she says about suicidal not necessarily being mentally ill. I had 2 undiagnosed physical health conditions that impacted my life, my outlook, my energy levels and once that was fixed I felt much better, it took a few years. Apart from being a vocal genius, Sinead sharing her journey with us has given us all so much to think about and to learn from. Still shining from the other side xxx

The real truth. It makes sense and it’s the end of the story. Islam is peace alhamdulilah❤️ it is beautiful mash’allah. Love and peace❤️ to my brothers and sisters of all faiths!! got so much love for humanity❤️

Azam Azam I’m Venezuelan alhamdulilah and our Muslim community here is expanding by the minute alhamdulilah. 200+ , we don’t have enough resources here, the Quran is hard to find here. There’s a shortage of mosques. But we’re pushing through thank god. We’ve had 4 reverts come to Islam just this past week alhamdulilah!!

Nice to see her smile. I've been struggling with loneliness, depression (including suicidal ideation), anxiety, OCD and other conditions since childhood and I ended up developing more problems over the years. Nobody deserves to suffer. I'm glad she's found peace now. The video she made was heartbreaking. I used to have agoraphobia, my mum used to tell me loads of things about the outside world that weren't true. I know how it is to deal with false friends too. I relate to her a lot. She is honest too which is something that is rare nowadays.

I don’t, for one second, believe that “I am stretched on your grave” was the only song Sinead O Connor could sing acapella. What a bizarre unbelievable claim. Bless, her she mustn’t have felt like singing that day. She could sing the phone book acapella and it would have sounded like intense and delicate furies of the soul.

May God bless her and keep on straight path... i had that illness about 8 years ago, it feels like u will die but only mentally, but submission to God(islam) gave me inner peace.
