im going to try and explain what happened up to this point: so in the beginning evan's mother talks about the notes evan writes to himself to try and boost his confidence that all start with the words "dear evan hansen". well after "waving through a window" evan is very upset and basically writes how he feels in his "dear evan hansen" note saying things like "this year will not be good" and "you have all your hope pinned on zoe (connor's sister) but she doesnt even know you exist". connor sees him writing and goes up to talk to him. they have a friendly moment and connor signs evans cast. then conor sees what evan has written involving his sister and gets angry and leaves with the note. a few days later connor commits suicide and he still had the note. connors parent's mistake this note for connor's suicide note and since it starts with "dear evan hansen" they invite him over for dinner. while at dinner zoe and connor's mother begin to fight because zoe thinks that connor was a monster but the mother thinks he was just complicated and misunderstood. Evan just wants the fighting to stop and accidentally says that he remembers connor being nice. then the family starts asking him questions and evan panics and tell the story in "for forever" then the family asked how they kept and touch and evan says they emailed so thats why evan and his friend jared are making these fake emails. hope this helped! sorry if i said it in a confusng way im not very good at explaining things.

Connor actually signed Evan's cast before he killed himself. It was a sort of friendly gesture, but Connor found one of the "Dear Evan Hansen" letters that Evan had just printed on which he ranted about how terrible things were, and upon finding Zoe's name on the letter, Connor assumed Evan was mocking him, got mad, and stormed off. He still had the letter on him when he died so his parents assumed it was a suicide note addressed to Evan, and Evan went along with it saying they were close friends. In this song Evan was writing fake emails to Connor in order to prove to Connor's parents that thet were actually friends. The other guy is Jared, Evan's family friend (he claims they're only friends so his mom could pay for his car insurance), and he is just amused by the concept and agrees to help. Connor isn't actually there, it is just the actor singing along to their represntation of him.

yes, Connor's hair is gorgeous. I love it too. OK! Quick rundown of the show so far! I'm trying to keep it as spoiler-free as possible, but if anyone wants to catch me on anything, let me know and I'll edit it. So, the past summer, Evan fell from a tree and broke his arm. He loves trees. He's also very shy and has severe social anxiety. Connor Murphy is very much a sort of 'JD' type character mixed with Evan's personality - anxious about people but comes off about it in a vastly different way, at least from what we could tell in the first half hour. He's the first and only person to sign Evan's cast, before he finds one of Evan's letters to himself talking about how he likes Zoe Murphy... Connor's Sister. Connor thinks it's creepy, gets mad and shoves him, leading to "Waving Through the Window". Connor offs himself, but Evan's letter is found on him, so since it was "Dear Evan Hansen," everyone thinks Connor wrote it to Evan. Evan tries his best to console them and just provide support, but it's dragging him in to a hole he might not be able to get out of, as he is now faking his friendship with stories ("For Forever") and with emails ("Sincerely, Me"). I uh found it in the printer! *holds out Evans therapy letter* Evan: yeah don’t worry about it! It’s just a stupid proje- Connor: *looks at letter really quickly and confused* is...this about my sister? Evan: *stuttering an excuse but gets cut off* Connor: you knew that I would find this! Evan: what!? Connor: you saw I was the only other person in here so you wrote some creepy sh** about my sister because you knew I would freak out about it! Then you could tell everyone about how big of a freak I am right!!!! *grabs letter and starts stomping away* Evan: wait no I need that back! Please I need it back! -end scene- I hope this helped! And I love your channel :) He also killed himself because His dad neglected him. His sister hated him. His mom tried to help him but he thought it was just pity. And everyone at school hates him. Yes, Connor is dead, he commited suicide because he saw Evan's letter about his suicidal thoughts and his crush about his sister, Zoe. At this point, Evan is only pretending to be Connor's good friend because he does not want to be blamed about Connor's death, kinda. He was cornered. Connor's family thought that Evan's letter is Connor's suicide note and Connor has a big ass sign on his cast. Connor would bot usually do that so his family thought that Evan is his close friend. Evan's motive will change later on in the second act.

When Connor had committed suicide his parents had thought that Evan's note was Connor's suicide note, so Evan had decided to put up the act that he was Connor's friend, because he was afraid of getting yelled at by Connor's family.

Evan has some extreme social anxiety, and after he was mistaken for Connor’s friend, he couldn’t gather the courage to correct the family, as they were already grieving. Basically, the whole situation got way out of hand from just a little white lie, to masterminding a whole relationship.

I'm not saying what Evan is doing is okay but in his defense, he didn't just jump up and say he knew Connor. It was a misunderstanding at least at first it was. You see, Evan does those doctor ordered letters to himself. And he wrote one about how great Connor's sister, Zoe is and Connor saw it and flipped out. So Connor took it and then killed himself. The letter was found in his pocket and his parents assumed that Connor has written it to Evan. Evan was then called into the Principal's office the next day because Connor's parents assumed Evan was friends with Connor and they wanted to tell him. Evan sort of tried to tell the truth, simply saying that Connor didn't write the letter but Connor's parents didn't understand and thought Evan was in shock. He then left in a panic, telling all of this to his friend Jared Kleinman (the one helping him write the letters.) who basically told him that he needed to just smile and nod and tell no one because it'd be really bad if everyone found out. Evan, who was sort of desperate to actually be something, actually have had a friend, and to comfort Connor's family goes overboard, telling them about how Connor had a secret Email and that's why Connor's parents didn't know about Evan. Evan then needs proof of this secret email and with the help of Jared, they write these letters.

So basically this is Evan and his friend (idk his name) writing emails between Connor (the guy who killed himself). The reason he’s pretending to be friends with him is because a note Evan wrote to himself because he has anixety (I think) was found in his pocket. But Evan didn’t take it seriously so he started the letter with Dear Evan Hanson and ended it with From me. So everyone thought Connor and Evan were friends. I don’t even know if any of this made sense but I hope it helped a little.

Evan was writing a letter to himself to help with anxiety. Conner saw it and kept it and when he committed suicide his parents thought that was a suicide note, now for the cast, Conner felt bad so he wrote his name on Evans cast. That's just the beginning part and the guy helping write the letters is Evans family friend. I did a lot of research about it cause I was confused but if you want to cry the reason behind for forever is extremely sad so ya just Google it.
