Not so long ago, I expressed my admiration for the Master for his wonderful, masterful playing, mature, full of life, enthusiasm and brilliance. A great virtuoso interpretation. I eagerly came back here to admire the Master, his wonderful playing, which provided us with so many emotional experiences, emotions, elation, inner strength and a sense of great beauty. Unimaginable sadness and grief overwhelmed me when I learned that he was no longer with us. It brings tears to my eyes and those who adored him. Disbelief... We have lost one of the greatest pianists in the world. His wonderful concerts remain... How difficult it will be to listen to them now, knowing that He is no longer there :( . His great talent will remain in the hearts of all of us. Rest in peace and keep playing for the Angels and those who have passed away...❤🕯🙏🎼🎹🙏🕯. ..I express my sincere condolences to his Family and loved ones .... Piotr Poland

Panie Piotrze, pięknie Pan to napisał!

My favorite piano concerto. I’ve heard it a hundred times, but Maestro Pollini brings a subtle difference that sets him apart from all others. I imagine this is the way Beethoven would have wanted it played. It brings tears..

When I started a long tradition of visiting Vincents record shop in Birmingham in the mid 70's artists such as Arrau and Rubinstein were the revered elder statesmen of the keyboard, their later recordings offering insight, while Pollini was still relatively youthful , his performances so polished and dazzling. He is now assuming that mantle, the 'father of the House' very graciously, and personally, I find it remarkable how musicians such as he can perform to such a standard at an age when so many of us will have retired from our work. If he felt he wasn't able to give of a certain standard he'd know it, but as this performance shows he's still brilliant - and don't we all love him!

I am a huge fan of Maurizio Pollini, he has produced numerous incomparable recordings and hearing him live was always mesmerizing. However while I am very glad to see him still performing at this level at such an advanced age, it is certainly nowhere near his best - there are many small mistakes, and while the famous pearl-like lightness of his play is mostly still there, he lacks some of the precision and power of earlier years. I don't claim to know the best recording of the work, but find the Bernstein/Zimerman/ViennaPO recording outstanding. Enjoy!

My first hearing was on a 78rpm recording when I was 7 years old in 1943. Arthur Schnabel recorded it with the Philadelphia Symphony in 1942. I was enthralled, my ear as close to the speaker as I could get. Scratches and pops did no distract me. I am 88 and the 2nd movement still brings me to tears. I have an LP 33 1/3 vinyl recording of that very recording that still bring images of myself sitting in front of that old record player as a child listening in wonderment. Perhaps Maestro Pollini and I will meet and I may sit beside him with Beethoven nearby smiling in gratitude.

Hello ! You put it very nicely. It's very touching. You love music, and it is very beautiful. Music has always inspired us to do something sublime, sensual and supreme. He has superhuman and timeless power. It is beauty that flows from God, giving it to man who, through his extraordinary talent, is able to pass it on to others. We should accept it with humility and love in order to know and understand what is great, noble and beautiful. Maurizio Polini left us this message. One of the world's greatest pianists has died. It is very sad :( . His work will remain forever. You can enjoy this beauty for a long time. You are not 88 years old, but 81 is still a long way, and I wish you 100 years and more :) . Maurizio now plays among angels and those who have passed away, and let's admire his talent here and let's not rush yet... Regards :) .... ... Piotr from Poland

@@japiat1520 Thank you for your kind response. Music and harmony during these difficult times brings me back to my inner balance. Our deepest parts seem to respond to sounds that connect, that stimulate our senses regardless of the notes or beats. If I am left with only one sense, may it be to hear the sound of Bach or Miles Davis, or Brahms or Mahler, but probably not Philip Glass. Gorecki's Symphony is heartbreaking. Bach Chaconne on guitar played by Segovia forces me to sit quietly with time afterward to contemplate. I could not live in a world of silence.

You put it beautifully again and thank you. It's great that you love music and the world of great Art. You have the soul of an artist, sensitive to music, its beauty, the emotions it evokes, which lead us to heavenly Divine perfection. It gives you wings and gives you strength. Let it stimulate and enliven all the senses, especially those related to the heart rhythm. Let us enjoy its beauty and let it not cease or cease before we hear the angels singing and playing to the heavenly glory of the Lord. p.s. When I read your first comment, I was very moved and reacted spontaneously. It was already very late, I misjudged your years :) :), but it's a happy association, because it means that during these 7 years you will live even longer and even longer :) Really :) I wish you 100 years and more. ..lots of health and prosperity,.....
