As a singer my vocal coach has always said power ballads like adeles songs you need to NAIL to sound even correct never mind good there very very challenging so the harsh judging makes sence choose a hard song get the hard critiques if you fail it

I think it just came off a little weird bc Jazell wasn’t the only one who did that, it was just more pronounced since it was Adele. I do agree though-it’s like when theater girls use Defying Gravity as an audition song. The song is iconic for the amazing vocal performance, so if you can’t perform the near-impossible task of outdoing perfection, don’t bother.

I have ears and I agree with Mel. There’s nothing wrong with being picky especially with people like jazell who are clearly talented and have room for improvement. Also, it’s literally a talent show that is judged by a panel, how do you expect to go to a judged talent show with no judging?

@@BGodzillahhh757 Didn’t mention anything about judging. It’s a competition, that just common sense. Stated how, if Mel’s critique was not out of spite or jealousy or any other ill emotion, Jazell making her statement, and the crowed openly agreeing, not only discredits Mel’s critique, but further pushes a narrative that Mel, was being salty. The whole, room including the other judges went against her opinion, therefore making her look foolish. ( embarrassing moment).

Both Trixie and Michelle have been harsh in the past and also I don’t know why they themselves didn’t say anything, so I won’t speculate about that. All I know is I agree with Mel. Don’t tell me there were no people in the crowd that agreed with Mel.

@@BGodzillahhh757 Can’t say, but what was shown, the entire crowd was cheering. Even if there was, it wasn’t the majority, which is why Mel couldn’t do anything but sit there in silence. What was said was said, she passed her judgment, and the rest did not agree. Some agree, some don’t, Just humane. People are more so upset at her delivery than her critique. ( me I’m just pointing out the obvious lol) Now in terms of harshness, not saying that Mel’s critique wasn’t intense, but compared to what have been said in competitions, especially in ballroom, I personally found it light weight. Being the Jazell handled it so well, she probably wasn’t to phased by it either. Ballroom is shady, and participates needed tough skin to walk. Lots have built, character, found themselves, and gained a back bone, just by being raised in the culture. That paired with what Jazell most likely heard as her experience as a black trans woman, paired with her experience in walking balls, and other competitions, harshness was the least of worries.

I think it’s extremely helpful actually. She’s saying doing a song from Adele or let’s say Celine dion or Whitney , is always going to be compared to the original, the bar is so much higher. So unless you put your own spin on it it’ll give you mixed opinions. She did great but it felt like she was trying to be as great Adele vs taking the song and making it hers. I hope that explains my opinion
