I attended an Andy Williams Christmas program at the Moon River Theater about 12 years ago. No friends wanted to go, so I drove to Branson (was visiting friends in Oklahoma) and went alone. At 82 years, he still had a great voice. It was a bucket-list thrill of a lifetime.

The first vacation my husband and I ever took together was to Branson. I always wanted to see Andy Williams live and convinced him to go. We had front row seats and Andy came through the audience shaking hands while singing. my husband was taking pictures and Andy asked him, "Are you going to take my picture or shake my hand?" My husband laughingly said, "Both". Andy was such a nice, warm man. My husband passed away in 2012 and it is one of the fondest memories I have. The photos from the show are definitely keepsakes and I can hear my husband laughing as he tells the story. ❤

I went out and bought ALL the favorite albums of the various artists and musicals / movie soundtracks that my parents had played , and I had enjoyed, too, when I was a younger child. Ruthann Friedman wrote ’Windy’ when she was living in David Crosby’s house (you can tell Crosby had no influence). When the Association released ‘Windy’ in 1967 it was an immediate hit, and we would play the ‘45’ over and over at my best friend’s house. His dad produced ‘The Ventures’ and other bands, and they had every record you could imagine. I, along with many of my friends, was on the cusp of transitioning our musical tastes from the bubble gum music played on 93 KHJ to harder rock music. But, at my friends house with their music collection, we would secretly lip sync or sing along to the soft stuff; Frankie Valli, Simon & Garfunkel, mostly all of the 2 min 30 second songs that they played on KHJ. We really didn’t have FM rock stations yet, or radios that played FM, yet. So the harder Rock bands were word of mouth, or seeing bands playing at the Teenage Fair at the Hollywood Palladium where they would have a ‘Battle of the Bands.’ We were forbidden to go to the Teenage Fair because it was full of Hippies, but we’d ride our bikes down the hill and sneak in because it cost like $1 to get in (Hendrix played there). I think by 1968 we didn’t bring up Pop (bubble gum) music to other kids, in order to avoid the possible ridicule. I didn’t know Andy Williams recorded Windy. I would have guessed yes, he had recorded his version of everything. Of the five albums my grandparents owned, three were Andy Williams, one Sinatra, and Don Rickles live in Vegas (the funniest, nastiest, thing I was allowed to listen to as a kid. I come from a musical family. My mom was a coloratura soprano opera singer who had her own 15 minute radio show at age 13. My dad is an aerospace engineer who played Sax, clarinet and flute. He played in the big band down in Hollywood (Barbra rehearsed with them) and later in the LA Jazz Band. We were encouraged to listen to all kinds of music, but no Rolling Stones allowed in the house. That ban was lifted in 1968. Thanks for triggering the great memories. (Yes, I spent time in Laurel and Benedict Canyons as a very early teen. Music was happening there. “We’re just going to ride our bikes mom, see you later.”👀)

If memory serves, Andy used to sign off his TV show every week with a few bars of Moon River, then the orchestra continued as he invited a lady from the audience to come up and dance gently with him. An American treasure who I can assure you brightened our lives here on the other side of the pond. Easy listening for those who don't, or didn't, do easy listening. Like, you know, ANY song he sang would sound good - but they were a great bunch of songs. (Favourites of mine: Can't Get Used To Losing You, Butterfly, Almost There to name but three.) So, thank you Scott, pleased to hear his theatre is still going and looks to be in pretty good nick. (Do say hello to Jordan next time you see him - great guy - introduced me to your channel.) Best regards.

Andy Williams will always be among my favorite singers along with Elvis, Nat King Cole, Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin and Bobby Darin as well as others. One of my favorite memories was listening to the music of Andy Williams as a young boy while getting ready for bed. Christmas has never been the same without Bob Hope, Bing Crosby and the great Andy Williams. May they all Rest In Peace!!!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏

I'm just finishing reading Andy Williams book on his life. He describes his decision on building the Moon River theatre and how it came to be. Thank you for this look around and inside it. Wish I would have seen him perform there.

Can never go wrong with an Andy Williams album. Found one on a cassette years ago for cheap - but it's a great album!

His tv variety show went on almost a decade, so you can imagine his voice and the many guests he had on his show, were woven into the fabric of our hearts and minds. I still get melancholy hearing moon river, because it reminds me so much of my late mother

I soooooo remember the Claudine and Spider affair. Andy stood by her through out the whole thing. I was a fan as long as I can remember. Had his records as a teenager in 1968. Andy was always such a gentleman. So happy to see this episode. Thanks!!! He sang the Battle Hymn of the Republic and Ave Maria when Bobby Kennedy died.

Thank you! I loved Andy Williams; he was a big part of my Christmas growing up and still today! We had 2 Christmas LPs: Andy Williams Brothers and Tijuana Brass. Played them over and over while decorating the tree!

When my Granpa passed we played Moon River at his funeral. My Granpa LOVED Andy Williams and that song, of coarse! We only live an hour away from Branson and have been going there our whole lives! Love that place.

I loved the Andy Williams show in the 1960s, and the Christmas specials, it was one of the few American TV shows that was broadcast here in the UK, we never got the Dean Martin show or any of the others really. I recently bought a DVD featuring highlights of the show, brings back such happy memories and there were some amazing guest stars , a who's who of all the top singing stars of the 60s. Happy days indeed.
